Food is proven to be a universal form of communication. No matter the age, culture, or language barrier, cuisine is a way we all come together and connect. The concept that millions of types of dishes there are in the world and the fact that it would be basically impossible to try every single one is an insane and overwhelming fact. Here are ten deliciously unique dishes and their country of origin to pique your cravings for food you may have never tried.

1. Singapore: Laksa

Vermicelli, spicy broth, prawn or fish together make a tasty bowl of Laksa, it is a coconut-based curry soup.

2. Indonesia: Satay


There is almost nothing more simple than grilled meat on a skewer, but the possibilities of sauces and seasonings are endless and almost create a unique experience every time.

3. Turkey: Manti


Manti is traditional Turkish dumplings with its roots back from the 15th century Ottoman Empire. This recipe includes the dumplings stuffed with lamb, chickpeas, and served with yoghurt on top.

4. Poland: Gołąbki


This hearty meal is made up of cabbage stuffed with meat and rice. It can be a smaller meal or part of a decadent feast.

5. Greece: Moussaka

Layered vegetables topped (smothered) in cheese. Need I say more?

6. Sweden: Smörgåstårta

Translated this is "Sandwich Cake" but it is nothing like actual cake, the name refers to the presentation and shape of the dish. It is a dish that is definitely pleasing to the eye.

7. Chile: Beef Empanadas

There are dozens of types of empanadas, but the Chilean recipes tend to be simpler with beef, eggs, olives, and raisins, for example.

8. Morocco: Pastilla

A traditional pie made with pigeon meat, spices, and almonds on top.

9. Finland: Lohikeitto

Lohikeitto is salmon soup with broiled potatoes and leeks. Sometimes it is served with milk.

10. Ireland: Ulster Fry

A perfect, complete breakfast. Bacon, sausages, eggs, soda bread... what more could you need to start out your day?
