8 Things To Thank Your Niece's And Nephew's For

1. Finally allowing me to live out one of my dreams of being the cool aunt. I used to watch TV shows/movies and see the incredible bond the kid and their aunt had. I always knew I would be that person to my future niece or nephew and I absolutely couldn’t wait for that day. I know when you get older. your parents will be yelling at us both, but the day you were born I knew you would make the perfect partner in crime.

2. Our bond. I was told a thousand times that “it’s a bond like no other”; but I didn’t learn the true meaning of this statement until I met you. The day you were born I felt immense love and joy and an overbearing amount of pride. Your mommy is my best friend and since you’re half of her, it automatically makes you mine too. Even if she wasn’t id still choose you a million times over.

3. Your sweet snuggles. All my life I have always been the person to stay in my pajamas all day and lounge. Ever since you came alongside had a valid excuse for being lazy. There is so much going on between school, work and the few unpleasant people I come in contact with on the daily. As hectic and stressful my days can be, your snuggles bring my head and stress back down to the ground. They remind me to take a breather, and more importantly remind me of the things that really matter in life such as love and family.

4. Your dirty diapers. They remind me how messy life can be, but the clean up is always possible with help from your loved ones. Your mommy and daddy know how terrible I am at changing your diapers and judging by your frequent funny faces and giggles, you agree with them. I hope you know that whatever mess you find yourself in, I will always help you with the clean up.

5. Your innocence. As you get older, you’ll realize the cruel corners of this world. New experiences invite new perspectives and over time your heart will become tougher. You cant fight the inevitable but I hope you choose to see some things and people with the same wide eyed wonder you were born with. I pray you hold onto your sweet and resilient heart forever.

6. Your personality. Your big eyes and sweet cheeseburger smile light up a dark room. There are so many times I feel like I’m losing and see the world with a cloudy view, but your bubbly, pure personality never fails to turn my bad day around.

7. Giving me something to brag about 24/7. I don’t think there’s ever a time when I’m not shoving my phone in someone’s face showing him or her your picture. You’re the sweetest, funniest, most perfect human being and anyone who doesn’t have the same reaction I do when they look at your pictures are bad people and we certainly don’t need that kind of negativity in our lives. Every time you reach a new milestone or do something cute, which is every day, I share it with everyone I know. I wish with all of my heart that I could be with you every single day, but I hope you know that even at 700 miles away I’m still your biggest fan.

8. The experience. The thought of being responsible for another human’s life has always intimidated me, but having you around calmed my nerves quite a bit. I know that when the time comes, I will be a better mom and I have you to thank for that.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
