With Christmas just around the corner, there's so many seasonal activities to cross off your holiday list. Los Angeles may not receive snow, but that doesn't stop this city from celebrating the season with Christmas decorations, endless shopping, ugly Christmas sweaters and pumpkin spice lattes galore. For those who plan on spending the holidays with a significant other or romantic interest, here's some cute date ideas:

1. LA Zoo Lights

Located at the LA Zoo and Botanical Gardens, this event consists of "a dazzling wonderland of light." The attraction is small, but makes for a cute place to stop at after a dinner date. It costs less than $20 per ticket for adults and they provide free parking. Maybe your date will find that they're mesmerized by more than just lights.

2. Take a trip to Mountain High

Mountain High resort is located in the San Gabriel Mountains. It's a mere two hour drive from the San Fernando Valley so whether you want to take a day trip or get away for a couple days, this is the perfect snow resort to visit. Depending on which area of the resort you go to, you can snowboard, ski, sled or just play innocently in the snow with snowball fights and snow angels.

3. Ice skating

Ice skating may not be for everyone, but I say everyone needs to give it at least one try. A lot of people fear falling on their bum; however, you'd be surprised how well balanced you might be. Besides, if you're afraid to fall you always have the excuse of holding your partner's hand (wink wink, nudge nudge).

4. Attend a Christmas party

Whether it's a company party with an open bar or an ugly Christmas sweater party among family or friends, you can't go wrong with going to a Christmas gathering. Christmas parties are a great way to spend time with the people close to you and your current love interest. Additionally, you can get multiple perspectives of the person you're dating from your friends and/or colleagues.

5. Bake sweets and drink hot cocoa

What's a more delicious way to get to know each other than baking desserts and sipping on hot chocolate? (After a home cooked dinner of course). The two of you can sit, chat and munch on your delectable—or burnt—creations. Oh, and if one of you owns a fireplace that's always a plus.

6. Take a stroll down Candy Cane Lane

Candy Cane Lane is located near Pierce College at the intersection of Lubao and Oxnard Street in Woodland Hills. The homeowners of this neighborhood traditionally put on a creative display of Christmas lights and decorations like the one pictured above. It wouldn't hurt to wander this festive neighborhood with a date.

7. Christmas movie marathon

There's so many marvelous Christmas movies and it's too difficult to choose one to watch. Why not make an evening of it and have a movie marathon? Christmas movies span across various film genres so you're certainly not limited in your options. Try to mix things up with at least one classic, comedy, horror and romance Christmas film in your marathon.

8. Roast s'mores and cuddle up by a fire pit

Roasting s'mores around a fire pit is an alternative option for the couples too lazy to bake and/or don't own a fireplace (if you don't own a fire pit, get creative fellas). Enjoy each other's company and don't forget to sit extra close because these winter evenings are quite cold.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
