An Open Letter To My Son

Hopefully my son will not only heed this advice.

An Open Letter To My Son
Sharlene Stachowicz

To my dear precious boy,

Words cannot express how lucky I am to have you. As I watch you grow, I am excited for each new milestone you reach.

I am also absolutely terrified. I realize that the older you get, the more you will interact with the world and how it will affect you.

It can be both a beautiful and cruel place. The world is full of so much wonder and good but can be plagued with evil just as easily.

I know both of these will come into play in your life for nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes, but never let that drag you down or think less of yourself. You can do anything you want and be whoever you want to be.

Never give up, my sweet little boy. Always aspire to be better and do better than before. Be a beacon of kindness and truth in this world. There seems to be less and less with the growing years.

Don't have hate in your heart or carry grudges. It is not worth the time and effort it takes when there are so many things in this world to enjoy and love.

Do not let others influence who you choose to be, both as a person and in a career, because it is not their life to live, it is yours and it is the most beautiful thing.

I look at you and see your curiosity and I hope that you never lose that quality. Life is something to constantly be curious about and to motivate you to try new things and places.

Never settle in this life for it is fleeting and each moment should be something that you look back on fondly.

However, that is a fool's notion and you will have moments full of sorrow and anger and that is a part of life. That doesn't mean you should ever live with regret and let it direct your life.

Do not let negative things guide you in life. I believe in you and everything you have to offer to the world. Your future is so bright and beautiful, just like you my lovely little boy.

Treat everyone as you wish to be treated. Respect your elders. Treat women the way you would treat your mother, which I hope is with the love and respect they deserve. I know you will do great things and I am already so proud to call you my son.

You have already made my life so much more beautiful and one day when you have your own children I hope that you will carry this advice that I give to you.

Love,

The luckiest mom in the world.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
