If you've been on Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, or really any other social media this week then you already know that the highly anticipated release of Disney's new streaming service is over, and Disney+ officially became available to the public this week. With the holiday season upon us, this new streaming service couldn't have come to us at a more perfect time.
The platform has over 600 shows and movies available for viewing. With so many choices ranging from 'Avatar' to 'The Avengers' or '10 Things I Hate About You,' there is something for every age and demographic to enjoy. Trust me when I say watching 'Boy Meets World' or 'Fantasia' will make an instant wave of childhood nostalgia wash over you.
Whether you're looking for something to watch with the family, or just trying to relive your childhood during a much-needed study break, there's genuinely a show/movie for every occasion! Alongside our favorite childhood content, Disney is also releasing many new original series, including a show titled 'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' which stems from the world of our original 'High School Musical' that we all loved. They only have the first episode available currently but it actually was surprisingly good, and I'm eager to see where the rest of the series goes.
Now it's time to open up that bottle of wine or get an extra hot chocolate and get ready for a Disney extravaganza because your weekend is about to get magical.
1. 'Cinderella'
From Disney's "Out of the Vault" category, 'Cinderella,' alongside many of the other classics, can be viewed. Cindy was the original influencer, I mean come on, look at that choker and ball gown. She is 100% that b*tch. Seeing her be bippity-boppity-booed and completely transformed will make you wish you had your own Fairy Godmother.
2. 'Hannah Montana'

Honestly 'Hannah Montana' might have been the best show to ever come out of Disney. She was and still is a reigning icon to this day. Also, this show really shed some light on the real-life issues that come with fame: Hannah/Miley got in fights with paparazzi, disappointed people she loved, and struggled with the balance of being an international pop star while maintaining a normal life. Relatable AF. I will stan Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana until my dying breath.
3. 'Avatar'

One movie I was actually surprised to find available on the website, 'Avatar!' Like most people, it had been a while since I last watched this movie, and after seeing it again last night, that film is seriously a masterpiece. Between the Na'vi people, the gnarly creatures, and just the entire world of Pandora, it really is one of the coolest movies ever. The sequel was pushed back due to filming and is now scheduled to be released in December 2021. So only about a year left! Until then you can enjoy the original on Disney+.
4. 'Hercules'

If you're like me then, you can accredit this film for most of your ancient Greek god knowledge. Not only does this movie serve an educational purpose, but those Muses sang some banger tunes that will be stuck in your head long after the movie is over. Like seriously, if you don't f*ck with the five soulful muses, then I don't f*ck with you.
5. 'The Parent Trap'

Another classic Disney movie, 'The Parent Trap' is one that is perfect for everyone, regardless of age. They did an amazing job at fooling every kid into thinking there were two Lindsay Lohan's. Sometimes I still want to believe that Lindsay has an identical twin out there, maybe she is just at the vineyard in Napa with Chessy!
6. 'The Little Mermaid'

Even though Cinderella was the original influencer, I think Ariel is my favorite Disney princess. That fiery hair, killer voice -plus she's a mermaid- talk about a triple threat! When it originally was released 'The Little Mermaid' helped usher in a new era of Disney films with the catchy musical tunes and hand-drawn characters, trendsetter alert! Also, Ariel and Prince Eric's love is one of the greatest in history- Romeo and Juliet who?
7. 'The Simpsons'

To wrap up the Disney+ list, I thought something a little different than the rest would be fun. 'The Simpsons' is definitely the least kid-friendly, which is why I was surprised to see it on the streaming service. With over 30 seasons packed with hilarity, there is plenty of episodes to keep you up late at night when you should be doing homework.
