If you love going to the gym and exercising in general, this article is not for you. This article is for the guys and gals who hate going to the gym but do anyway because they are brave and give into peer pressure.
1. Was that fart loud?
All that moving around and exercise may cause some gas. Since you have headphones in you can’t tell if your fart was silent or not and go into panic mode. Just relax because everyone else has headphones in too. So fart as loud as you want. Just make sure the people next to you didn't forget their headphones.
2. I’ve been here for 10 minutes, do you think anyone will notice if I leave now?
There’s no rule about how long you need to stay at the gym. What if there is a family emergency and you need to leave right now?! These gym people don't know your life! They should stop judging! But more than likely no one cares about how long you stay and if you want to leave, just leave. It’s no big deal, 10 minutes is better than nothing.
3. Sh*t I forgot my headphones!
Having done this more than most, I can assure you it's not that bad. Gyms generally play pretty good music and it's nice to workout without having to adjust your earphones every few minutes or worry about them falling out.
4. I could fall off this treadmill at any minute and die.
Treadmills are terrifying and I don't know why this isn't more of a thing. One over
5. Is my hair sweating? How does this even happen?
Being disgustingly sweaty in public is something we should all try to avoid. However there is no escaping sweat at the gym. Back-sweat, armpit-sweat, butt-sweat, even boob-sweat can be forgiven, but hair sweat is so gross. It just looks like you have really greasy hair and it drips on your face.
6. There are people on the mat, guess I can’t do abs today!
Other people using the mats or machine you want to use is a blessing in disguise. It’s the universe's way of telling you you're great just the way you are and you don't have to do this today. If someone's using the mat or machine you want don't bother waiting around to use it, just walk away knowing the gym gods are smiling down upon you.
7. I hate it here.
Alessia Cara’s “Here” really sums up how most of us feel at the gym. No one wants to go to the gym and once we’re there (with a few exceptions) we hate being there and want to leave. We ask ourselves “what am I doing here” and “Oh God why am I here” throughout our entire workouts.
