When you think about the person you are today, who do thank? Although its a given that our parents play a huge role in raising us, we often forget to thank them. Here are some of the things I want to thank my parents for.

1. Always putting me first

Thank you for always putting my needs before your own. A true parent is one who loves their children so deeply, that they would do anything for them, even if they are putting their needs second.

2. Giving me advice, even if I don’t want to hear it

Sometimes a parent needs to be the bad guy and tell you things you don’t want to hear. Although it seems like it at the moment, it is not because they want to nag you, but because they want what is best for you. Your parents have experienced so much in their lives, and they don’t want you to repeat the mistakes they have made, or watched others make. So as annoying as it may be at the moment, one day you will look back and thank them for aiding you in making the decisions you have made in your life.

3. Giving me an education

An education is the best gift a parent can give a child, because no one can ever take away your education. Although not every parent can help their children out with paying for college, they try to help in other ways as best as they can. I am so fortunate to have parents who were able to save up since I was a child and help me prepare to take care of myself for the rest of my life. It is something I never take for granted.

4. Being my best friend

Your parents are your family. They are the ones that will be there for you unconditionally. Beyond the fights with your friends, the break ups and the mistakes you make. They are the ones who take you make you soup and nurse you when you’re sick, the ones who changed your diapers when you were a child and the ones who, no matter how much of a brat you are, will always be by your side.

5. Protecting me from harm

It is in a parent’s nature to protect their child from harm. It is an incredible feeling knowing that no matter what mistakes you make, your parents will be there to protect you from whatever it is you are facing. Whether you are right or wrong in a situation, they will stand by your side and wait out the storm with you.

6. Raising me to be the woman I am today

I can’t thank my parents enough for raising me to be the educated, kind and responsible young woman I am today. The morals and values I was taught as a child are things I carry throughout my life every day. They are embedded in me, and guide me in every decision I make on a daily basis. They have taught me there is nothing better than a classy, educated woman, who can take care of herself without depending on anyone else for her happiness.

7. Loving me unconditionally

Thank you to my parents for loving me no matter what. I know they are the two people I can count of having for the rest of my life. No matter what life puts in front of me, my parents will be with me to celebrate my successes and help me in my times of need.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
