7 Things That Are Absolutely True About You

It's easy to focus on the negatives in life. It's easy to remember the harsh truths that people have told you. It's easy to get caught up in all the negativity that the world constantly pushes at you. Sometimes your biggest battles are within yourself. Here are seven things that are absolutely true about you.

1. There is an animal somewhere that is just waiting to become your best friend.

Did you drop a French fry in a parking lot? You have just earned the admiration of a bird. Did you stop to scratch a cat behind the ear? New bestie. Did you tell a dog he's a good boy? Look at his tail wag.

2. There is someone out there, right this minute, that finds you insanely attractive.

Maybe it's your spouse. Maybe it's your significant other. Maybe it's that girl from high school who still follows you on Twitter. Maybe it's a complete stranger watching you dance like a fool to your favorite song when you stop at a stoplight.

3. There are hundreds of great things about you besides the one that people always seem to come up with during compliment challenges.

Of course you're funny and you have cool hair, but you're also beautiful. And you make people smile. And the way you talk about your favorite show makes me want to sit down and binge watch it on Netflix. And hearing you sing in the shower probably makes your roommate laugh.

4. You deserve to get what you give.

What you put into your relationships is what you should get out of them. If you're constantly pouring time and love and laughter into your relationships, you deserve to have people who are willing to do the same for you. Don't settle for less than you deserve.

5. Whatever you're passionate about is super cool.

You should never let anyone dull the fire in your heart when you think about whatever you love. If you're 25 and you blast the Jonas Brothers throughout your apartment, belt all the lyrics at the top of your voice. If you like making models out of toothpicks, you build yourself an empire. If you play card games at the comic book shop on Tuesday nights, feel free to brag all over Facebook about the perfect card you just found for your deck. Someone, somewhere, will be just as in awe as you are. You love it, and that's all it takes to have a spot in your life.

6. You are enough.

You are pretty enough. You are thin enough. You are strong enough. You are tall enough. You are smart enough. You are enough. You are enough just the way you are. You don't have to change a single thing about yourself to make yourself enough. You are enough.

7. You are loved.

The person who asks you to text them when you get home safely loves you. The person who hugs you at church loves you. The person who tells you to break a leg before a big audition or buys you your lucky food before an interview loves you. The person who feeds you when you run out of money because you suck at budgeting loves you. The person who listens to you talk about the things you love, even if they don't love them too, loves you. More people love you than just the ones who say it regularly. There are tons of ways to say I love you besides those three words. You are loved.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
