Anxiety can be divided into several categories, some minor, some major. But this is just a generalization of what we want you to know about us...
1. We aren't crazy...
We just see the world differently, our worries and fears are so much bigger than you realize. It scares us.
2. We are super cautious
It's not that we want to play it safe all the time, we dream about breaking the rules... but in reality we have already thought about all the logical and illogical consequences possible, so we don't do it.
3. Panic attacks are so real.
You see them in movies and usually you think, "Wow they are so dramatic," but we see it and know that they feel how we feel.
4. Panic attacks can be minor.
Most of the time we just have little ones because the anxiety medicine we are on helps keep us calm. You would never know that the guy sitting next to you in math was gasping for air, feeling like he was 100 feet under water with no way to escape.
5. Some panic attacks are big.
The really big ones, the ones that trigger our emotions and past, are scary. These are the ones you notice. These are the ones you don't understand. These panic attacks make everything blurry. They control you're movements and actions. They determine your fight and flight sense. They control what you hear. These panic attacks are potentially hospitalizing... This is why people think we are crazy.
6. Anxiety isn't a reason to not be someone's friend.
Anxiety is a disease. It is brought on by a number of things and everyone will probably experience a little bit of it at some point in their life. and that is okay!
7. Anxiety doesn't define us.
We are just like everyone else. We might love a little harder and be a little more paranoid, but we can/will face our fears, even if they're not rational sometimes. We are strong. And will not be defined by anxiety.
