Taking care of yourself is important for a long, happy life. But being a healthy individual is more than just exercising on a regular basis and counting every calorie that you eat. Don't get me wrong, those are important, but you need to be healthy all around. So here is a list to help you improve yourself if you're currently in a rut:
1. Take care of your skin.
Guys, it's summer time. I know everyone wants that glowing tan, but a tan is skin damage. It's okay to be that person that obsessively covers yourself in sunscreen while everyone else is already in the water (me). It's better to wait a few minutes to get in than being miserable with a horrible burn or with cancer later.
2. Don't stay on electronic devices all the time.
Try to limit the time spent on your phone or computer. It's not very good for your eyes and there are way better things to do. Pick up a book. Take a walk outside. Do something creative, like paint or draw. You don't have to be good at it. Just get the gears in your mind working!
3. Avoid your ex's social media profiles.
This goes for other people who you don't particularly enjoy, as well. All it does is bring negative emotions and put you in a bad mood. Don't be that person who can't get over the past.
4. Learn how to manage your time well.
It's not hard, people. Get a planner and stop procrastinating! Just do the things you don't want to do. The sooner you get them done, the sooner you can do what you want and stop stressing about what you didn't want to do.
5. Clean up after yourself.
I don't know about you, but I can't focus on anything else if my room is messy. I need cleanliness. Doesn't everyone else? If your space doesn't have junk everywhere, you're more likely to be more productive because there are less distractions. You don't want to give a colony of roaches the perfect spot to make their home, either...
6. Get enough sleep.
This is so crucial! You need sufficient sleep so you'll be on the top of your game. The better sleep you get, the happier and healthier your mind and body will be. This means going to sleep and getting up around the same time every day. This also means not staying on your phone until you pass out. You're staying awake because you keep stimulating your brain. You'll thank yourself for this.
7. Do things that make you happy.
This may mean doing something alone sometimes, but that's okay because you need that every once in awhile. I like to go to art stores and pet stores even if I don't buy anything. I like to go to the park, have picnics and sew. Whatever it is you like, do it. You can never be too happy.
