7 Stages of Surviving a Haunted House

It's October now, which means you have to go to a haunted house. Nothing brings me more joy and fear than a good haunted house. It is the thrill of someone popping out or creepily following behind you that gives you such an adrenaline rush. Nothing says "Halloween" more than the sound of a chainsaw and high-pitched screams. Here are the stages we all go through while demons pop out at us:

1. Skepticism

Slowly starting to walk into the haunted house, peeking around every corner because you know someone is about to pop out. Throughout the entire haunted house, you are looking over your shoulder and peeking around corners.

2. Screaming

The first scare is the best because the person jumps out and you let out the most blood-curdling scream. This is the only place where it is a person's job to get you to scream at the top of your lungs. Better take advantage!

3. Anger

Seeing the faces of every haunted house employee and feeling angry at them even though they are just doing their job. Even yelling at them makes you feel somewhat better.

4. Self- Defense

Accidentally punching a scary demon in the face is acceptable because it is a natural reaction, right?

5. Screaming and Crying

That moment when you think you are safe from being scared and someone brings out the chainsaw. I have never run so fast in my life to get away.

6. Acceptance

Even though you lost your voice from screaming and your pants are wet from accidentally peeing yourself, no one can see, don't worry. Hopefully no one sees your tears either, because that haunted house is scarring.

7. Relief

No better feeling then leaving the haunted house and saying to yourself: "That wasn't even scary!" even though you are trembling—then you get home and cannot sleep because you are still frightened.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
