Sometimes you have those days where you're really just not feeling it. Maybe it's going to be a long day or maybe you didn't get enough sleep last night, but for whatever reason, your day is not as enjoyable as you would like it to be. Fear not! Every day can be made better with just a little effort!
1. Go outside.
There's just something about spending some time outside. If it's nice and pretty that day, you can set up a hammock and relax for a while, enjoying the sunshine pour down on you. Or if it's wet out, grab your boots and rain jacket and play around in the rain! Jumping in puddles is a sure way to get a little burst of enjoyment. Even if it's crisp outside, bundle up, grab a coffee, and embrace the chilled, fresh air.
2. Bible journal.
An always encouraging thing to do is spend some time reading scripture, but another thing you can do with it is to start bible journaling or bible doodling. Take a verse that you need to hear at the moment and write it out in pretty fonts, add some patterns around it, and just have fun with it! It will help you to meditate on the verse while you're drawing it out, and it'll give you a bit of time to relax and think on God's word.
3. Read a book.
It's so nice to make a cup of tea, set up a cozy corner in your bed, and read a good book. Maybe it's a book you've read a thousand times before; maybe it's an exciting new book that you've just discovered. Either way, reading a book, especially one that you enjoy, helps to get your mind out of the world of stress that you might be living in and to go on a mini adventure that your life might be lacking at the moment.
4. Go for a drive.
Grab some friends, turn up the music and just drive. You'll feel the excitement of freedom, even if you're only a half an hour away from campus. Also, it might be a good way to get some thinking done, and bringing along friends can help you talk things out if you need to. But if all you need is an awesome throwback jam session, that's cool too.
5. Take a nap.
Ignoring the world for sleep isn't always the best idea, but sometimes you just have to. Don't make it a long one, or you risk wasting your day away, but a good half-hour nap might be just what you need for a nice pick-me-up halfway through the day! Also, if we're being honest, you don't have to deal with your problems when you're asleep, and that just makes things better.
6. Be social.
A great way to make your day more positive and brighten other people's day as well is to talk to them! Wave to the people you know as you pass by, smile at strangers when you make eye contact, have a conversation with someone you don't usually talk to. It might be a little bit out of your comfort zone, but it's definitely worth it. Talking to people can show you how nice they can be, make you feel just a little bit happier, and maybe slightly restore your faith in humanity.
7. Smile.
The best way to have a good day is to tell yourself that you're going to have a good day. Start off with a positive attitude and a smile on your face. If you begin the day with happiness, you're a lot less likely to be brought down by little inconveniences. See the best in every situation life throws at you that day, and know that no matter what happens, there's something good in every day! Keep positive and stay happy!
