Momma knows best, right?

7 Signs Your Friend Group Definitely Has A Mom

Every friend group has that one mom who inevitably knows best (at least they like to think they do). From calling it a night before someone’s Snapchat story gets too far out of hand to making sure your besties sustain themselves on more than just bagels, undercooked microwave Ramen and pasta, here are seven struggles that only the mom of the friend group understands.

Like any mama bear, the friend group mom is extremely protective of her little cubs.

You want to talk to my baby bear at the bar? You best keep steady eye contact and watch that hand placement. One foul move and mama bear isn’t afraid to terminate that conversation.

Break baby bear’s heart? For all intents and purposes, you are officially dead to the friend fam and yes, mama bear will come up with hilarious nicknames/code names for you to make baby bear laugh at your silly ways. Be prepared to receive a multitude of dirty looks and icy glares.

Family dinner? Even when others offer to cook, Mom can’t help but to get her hands dirty in the kitchen.

It’s not that your group mom doesn’t trust you in the kitchen, it’s that she just can’t step aside when there’s an open flame and food to be made. Postgame dinner with cookies? Yep, Mom’s ready with glasses of milk. Come one, come all! Momma’s cooking!

Boy trouble? Mom is the go-to shoulder to cry on … armored with Kleenex, ice cream, hugs and sappy movies.

No matter what Mom has going on, she will drop it all to have a vent session with her little ones. Boys, school, work … regardless of the stressor, somehow Mom can relate and reassure you that this, too, shall pass. Also, regardless of her vehement opinion on this situation, she will calmly get you to see the rational side of things … then wipe your tears and spoon feed you Half Baked.*

*If unavailable, Nutella serves as an exceptional substitute.

Never fail, if something needs to be cleaned (especially the kitchen), Mom is the first one to cave … even if she did so the last 800 times.

For whatever reason, or compulsion, Mom just can’t ignore a messy counter, full trash can or dirty carpet. Even if she is insanely busy and should be dedicating her time to more important things, she will go on a cleaning rampage … she may even like cleaning … I know, I still don’t understand that one.

You can never tell if your friend is on the phone with another bestie, or her own mother.

When you walk in on your group mom on the phone, dropping some not so sweet words and detailing the events of her work, academic and social life (especially the boy department) the last person you think she’s talking to is her own mother. Is this a mother-daughter relationship you’re witnessing, or that of identical twin sisters?

“Hey, who called you earlier?” “Oh, that was just my mom.”

When the group takes a night on the town but Mom hangs back because she can’t rally past 9 p.m., Mom gives the annual safety speech. Without fail.

“Have fun! Be safe! Text me when you get home!” Even though Mom is being lame, she still makes her presence known.

“Send me Snapchats!” “Text me if you need me to pick you up!”

Mom leaves her phone on full volume in case she has to employ her role as an emergency responder, and when Mom wakes up to zero texts and Snapchats, in less than 10 seconds everyone gets a “Where are you? Are you okay? What happened last night?!” text.

After such an adventurous night, everyone feels the need to debrief on the evening’s events with Mom.

“You will NOT believe who I talked to last night!” “How should I reply to that text?!”

Even though Mom wasn’t there, she somehow manages to offer a new perspective to your night’s experiences.

Moms help make the world go round … and if your girl group wants to take over the world, it certainly helps to have a group Mom’s TLC.

So, it may not be Mother’s Day, but take some time to thank your group mom for all they do...a thank you, a hug or even buying them a drink. After all, what girl, or mom, doesn’t want to have fun?!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
