7 Signs You Are An Extroverted Introvert

Why can't we be both?

I've always found myself wondering what side I relate to more, extroversion or introversion. I like to meet new people and I'm open to new things, but I also enjoy staying home and doing absolutely nothing. There's a reason it's called extroverted introverted: I'm 51% extroverted and 49% introverted.

Here are 10 signs that might mean you are also extroverted introverted.

1. You find yourself being quiet in a group

Yes, we love to talk. Yes, sometimes we are the loudest ones in a group. But sometimes we find ourselves being very quiet. Not because we are shy or have nothing to say, but because we are trying to absorb all of the information being shared. We want to hear everything and anything and sometimes we just need to be quiet to be able to do that.

2. We love hanging out in groups but also enjoy one on one

The vibe of being in a large group is a crazy amount of fun. Everyone yelling trying to say get their two cents in, everyone laughing, and the conversation getting a little heated from having too much fun. The only problem is that you can't get serious and hear exclusive details.

Sitting with a friend in a coffee shop and talking about EVERYTHING is the best feeling. Going from talking about boys, the future, school, and how green tea is the best hangover cure is so much fun.

3. We are HORRIBLE texters. Period.

Oops. That's all I have to say about this. Yes, sometimes we purposely ignore you because we just don't want to talk to anyone. We promise most of the time it's because we see the text, then say we will respond, then never getting to that step.

4. Meeting new people? YES! Last minute? NO!

Randomly meeting someone is fine. It's quick and informal. But when you want us to meet your friend and hang with them we're going to need a minute. We like to process what we're going to say and plan out a few scenarios of how the situation could go. If you surprise us with a new friend last minute, you may be calling for an awkward and sticky situation.

5. Sometimes we enjoy being homebodies, but get lonely fast

After going out with people for days straight we like to stay in and do nothing. Sometimes we get tired of going out and want to lay in our beds laying for hours straight and being alone. During times like this and someone asks to hang out you think of excuses to say no and hide out in your room for days. But after a day or two, you start missing the presence of other people and get lonely. Then the cycle just starts again.

6. Favorite Place In The World? Cafes.

We LOVE cafes, especially cute and aesthetically pleasing ones! It's full of people and there's a lot of background noise, but everyone is doing their own thing. No one is bothering anyone else but there's still a presence of other people and sometimes that's enough. Cafes are also amazing spots to have a one on one deep conversation hang out.

7. We hate small talk and hate awkward situations

We are not fans of small talk and hate awkward situations. Not that we aren't awkward because sometimes we can be, but when we are witnessing an awkward encounter we want to run away. Small talk itself is awkward but it's also not sincere. We like to really get to know others and have a real conversation.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
