7 Shows To Binge Watch On Netflix Over Winter Break
Better After 50

Winter break is a great season to spend quality time with your family, eat Christmas cookies, and hang out with friends. But you are bound to have a decent amount of down time to relax. In between Christmas movies and carols, Netflix has an endless number of shows to watch. If you are anything like me, after you end a great show, finding a new one you love just as much seems impossible. Here is a list of shows, comedic, dramatic, silly, or heartwarming. The list has everything from classics to more obscure dramas. Take your pick; you will not be disappointed with these shows.

1. Grey’s Anatomy.

A cult favorite. Everyone who sees this show, loves this show. It is dramatic, heartwarming, lovable, and (sort of) educational. You’ll feel like a surgeon after finishing one season. Push two of epi.

2. Drop Dead Diva.

This is one of the cheesiest shows that I have ever seen. It follows a model who died and is sent back to earth in the body of a lawyer… Yes, you read that right. Like I said, super cheesy but it is fun to follow the new cases each episode and the characters are endearing.

3. Shameless.

I cannot speak highly enough about this show. It is not for the faint of heart as it is definitely X rated, but it features some of the best characters in any show I have seen. The acting is phenomenal and the storylines will not disappoint. Follow a family with some serious dysfunction through the trials of life on the South Side of Chicago.

4. Vampire Diaries.

This one took me a few episodes to get into, but eventually the drama will take over you. Those of us who used to eat, sleep, and breath the Twilight Saga will notice quite a few similarities between the stories. But it is okay because the vampires in Vampire Diaries are much hotter (*swoon*).

5. Friends.

This one is a classic. Whether is it your first time watching it or your fiftieth, Friends is always an acceptable binge. From the laughable quotes, to the numerous romances, to the hilarious bromances, this show will never disappoint.

6.The Mysteries of Laura.

I found this show one day after ending a great series and I decided to give it a try. I instantly fell in love. It was cancelled after a short 3 seasons, which is way too soon in my opinion. It follows a murder investigator who is also a mother of two crazy twins. Each episode is a new investigation and I promise you, you will never be able to guess who the killer is.

7. New Girl.

I have never watched a show that makes me laugh out loud the way New Girl does. You will instantly feel like you are a part of this family of roommates. I’ve never met someone who does not love this show.

Binge at your own risk!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
