A month of college has taught me to appreciate some of the many benefits of being a college student. Here are some of them.
1. You get to live with your friends
There is always someone around who you can talk to whether that is your roommates or someone down the hall. People are everywhere and friends are all within walking distance. You are surrounded by new and interesting people.
2. People never sleep
I have always considered myself a night owl and coming to college I found myself surrounded by people who slept even less than I do. I’d love to tell my parents that I was up late studying but that’s not always the case. There are just so many fun things that go on at all hours.
3. Naps are a real thing

People sleep more during the day than they do at night. Gals between classes are the perfect time for a nap.
4. Food is always available
I always told myself that I wouldn't get the freshman 15. I swore to myself I would go to the gym. I eat all the time. I have a meal whenever I feel even a little bit hungry. There are a lot of choices and I manage to fill not one, but two plates whenever I go to the dining hall. I also am able to get food at midnight. Freshman 15 is real and I'm loving every cookie or slice of pizza that is getting me there.
5. Free fitness classes/gym

To combat the abundance of food options, there are also an abundance of fitness classes. They are free and make working out much more enjoyable than working out alone.
6. Less time in classroom more independent learning
I personally learn much better when I learn on my own. During high school, time was spent in school for most of the day in the classroom. Now I spend a tiny portion of my day in the classroom and the rest of the time studying (watching movies with my roommates).
7. Getting the perks of being an adult but not having to really be one
Being a college student gives me the same freedom as being an adult. It's like living in a resort for 4 years while the "kid perks" slowly disappear.
