Do you ever find yourself thinking “man, I love my friends.” I know I do. College is the strange bridge to adulthood where we are collectively confused. College is where all-nighters are pulled, tears are shed, and stress is at an all-time high. It is the truth that friends truly make things more bearable. These will be the moments we will remember forever. I asked college girls “what do you love about having best friends in college” and this is the feedback I received.
1.The late-night food runs
Food is a priority among my circle of friends. There is a text (either sent or received) in my inbox at all times that reads: “Wanna get food?” There is no better way to bond about how you are behind in all your school work than over a Cookout tray and large sweet tea. There is no better way to get your mind off your relationship problems than indulging in ice cream with your besties at an ungodly hour. We live for these late nights and tasty talks.
2.The sharing of clothes
Whether you have a hot date, need a party outfit, or are simply tired of staring at your own closet, your friends always save the day. Living with my best friends is like experiencing life with sisters that I never had. Looking decent can quickly become a community effort. The concept of “what is mine is yours” is totally a thing!
3. Wine movie nights
Being a girl can be tough and no one understands that better than other girls. College brings relationship problems and sometimes life gets overwhelming. The best solution is wine and a good chick-flick in pajamas with your best friends.
4. Road trips to clear the mind
I can't count how many times my friend and I have loaded up the car and driven with no place to go. The windows are down, the wind is messing up our hair, but we don't care. We are accompanied by good music and good people and nothing else seems to matter.
5. Friends will be a home away from home
College is a scary transition and being away from your family can be tough. I believe God sent me my best friends to make me feel at home even when I am not physically at home. They love and accept me just like my own family does.
6. They understand me when we don't understand ourselves
It's true that girls are indecisive, but best friends can help speed up the decision-making processes. It may be something small like picking out an outfit or deciding what to rely to the text from your crush, friends always help make these things easier. They can finish our sentences and keep honesty a priority.
