68 Thoughts We All Have About The Seattle Heat

Sometimes we forget that Seattle has other seasons besides rain

68 Thoughts We All Have About The Seattle Heat
KOMO NEWS

We all know that Seattle is no different when it comes to seasons; four distinct temperatures that always catch us by surprise. Summer, for sure, is no different—we are suddenly reminded that we all need to put away our parkas and umbrellas and scavenge for new shorts and tanks. Along with new wardrobes, there are lots of other thoughts that come to mind about the heat:

Wow, is this what the sun looks like? I almost forgot after 9 months of winter.

It’s so hot.

Did we always have this fan in the corner of the room?

Am I melting?

Sweat stains, great! Ok, note to self—Never wear gray.

Black on black is also not an option anymore.

I forgot that it is sunny here and I only have pants.

It is perfect weather to go for a run.

Hmmm, maybe I will go for a run tomorrow.

Does planning my run count as exercise?

Who wants ice cream?Ice cream is my only source of dairy and that’s fine.

How is it still light out past 9 pm? This never happens.

Wow guess what?? Today’s forecast set the record for the hottest day!

The sun is waking me up before my alarm…this is going to be a problem.

I can’t sleep.

Which is the cold side of the pillow again?

Let’s go to the beach!

Let’s wear shorts to the beach instead of our rain jackets and boots!

IS IT GOING TO BE 80 DEGREES TODAY? YAY!

Time to get my color for the rest of the year.

I finally get a chance to put this sunscreen that I got on sale last year to use.

I can’t have an uneven tan.

Which pair of sunglasses matches my outfit?

Dang it! I forgot my sunglasses.

Wearing my backpack to class is making this much worse.

How am I supposed to concentrate in class while I am sitting in a puddle of my own sweat?

Does walking to class count as my daily exercise?

Can’t wait to jump in the shower.

How am I already sweating again?

Which clothes do I own that give me the most airflow?

Oops, almost forget to get Deo for my B.O, close call.

Why don’t we have AC?

We need AC.

The mall has AC, phew.

How long do you think I can stand in front of the AC before the mall cop kicks me out?

I AM OFFICIALLY MELTING!

Did I even drink this much water? Where is all this sweat coming from?

Ohh yay a cool breeze.

Wait, that lasted a good .02 seconds.

Did I forget my water bottle?

Hold up, let’s take a water break.

How do I only have $5.62 in my bank account???

Let’s have a barbecue!!!

I wish I had a pool.

Beach body is not quite ready……oh well.

When did all my snapchat friends become boat owners?

Oh great another sunset picture…never seen that before. *Scroll*

Oh great another firework video...now I don't have to watch the live show.

“Can you take a good picture of me at the beach so it looks like I am having fun?”

“It’s so hot outside” –- Me if I went outside

Let’s go hiking!

Let me just stand behind this tree so that I am not in the sun.

When did this park become so crowded?

Um, how are we going to keep our drinks cold in the park?

Is there a bathroom there? Is it clean?

Oh, your room is on the 3rd floor? You mean the sauna?

Um, excuse me there is a bug crawling on your picnic blanket.

Did you bring the mosquito repellent?

Great, I can’t watch my favorite Netflix show because there is too much glare coming from the sun.

Where is the sunlight coming from? I just closed the curtains.

What is that mysterious tickle on my foot? Is that a bug.

It’s raining…almost forgot that was a thing here.

We can’t go to the beach because it’s supposed to rain tomorrow!

The sunset is at 6 today.

I think I am going to bring my sweater, it is kinda cold today.

Wait, is summer over???

Maybe next summer I will actually do something cool!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
