62 Things a College Girl Thinks of Throughout the Day

I have now been a college student for 5 months now. I've just entered into my second semester of freshmen year and as of now I have had about a million thoughts swirling around in my head and they won't shut up. So, in order to gain excess space in my head for other less trivial or more important things, I'm going to shed some light on what goes on in the heads of college female students.

1. Where is the coffee?

It is essential to most girls morning routine. A nice cup of coffee.

2. What am I up so damn early???

Every student who has an 8 AM understands this. I don't mind, but there are days that I just want to role back over and go back to sleep, but I have to remember the professors policies on missing class and that prompts me to get up and get moving.

3. Do I REALLY have to get dressed for class?

4. DOGS!!!

Honestly, whenever I am walking to classes and see any breed of dog. I scream internally or out loud "Dooooooog!" and immediately have to go and pet it.

5. Why is it SO cold?

6. Ah, warmth.

*sighs as we enter a nice 70+ degree building*

7. How important is this class?

*Looks at syllabus and then your intended major and then curses*

8. Am I going to like this professor?

9. Is this class almost over?

10. I'm hungry

11. I need/want a nap

12. DOGS!!!!

13. Is it too late to go back to high school?

14. People, shut up!

*That's for people in class or just in the resident hall who are not quite and I'm trying to get things done.

15. When will this week end???

16. I want to do something, but I'm broke

17. I want to go home.

18. Why am I friends with these people?

19. Can't there be something good to eat

20. Do I have everything for class?

21. Why are textbooks SO expensive?

* As I lug 3 textbooks in my book bag that I need for class*

22. When is Spring Break?

23. It's 60 degrees in January. Get your crap together Mother Nature.

24. Should I really wear this today?

25. Am I going to wear make-up?

*Thinks about it and says screw it, I'm not here to impress anybody.

26. Why is this class so late in the day?

27. I'm just going to be lazy today

28. I need a boyfriend

*thinks that while watching rom-cons or watching couples on campus*

On the same lines

29. I don't need a boyfriend.

*I'm independent and I don't need a man. Way too much drama.*

30. Can I wear these shoes with this top?

31. Oh, he's kinda cute!

32. I need to take this nail polish off

33. I need to repaint my nails

34. My feet hurt. Shouldn't have worn these shoes.

35. I need new tops.

36. I need some new shoes.

37. *Just looks at phone*

38. *Why did you do that, Deborah?

*In reference to HGTV and any home improvement shoes*

39. Shit, I dropped my phone!

40. Damnit, I'm late!!!!

*Proceeds to run to class*

41. Why do I have to walk so far?

42. I wonder what the UC will have to eat today

43. I want some chocolate

44. DOOOOOOOOGSSSS!

45. I'm so hot.

*Thinks that while wearing 3+ layers of clothing *

46. Do I have time to read/watch TV today?

47. Is it possible to die from boredom?

48. Move people.

*I've seen people with walkers move faster than you*

49. Why didn't I drop that class.

50. This week is already shaping up to be hell and it's only Tuesday

51. What type of job pays well without a college degree?

52. What is life???

53. Who wears shorts in January?

54. Hit me. Please, hit me and pay for my college tuition.

*sees car driving around campus*

55. Why am I here?

56. Can I just eat all day?

57. I'm going to class in pjs

*While putting on regular clothes*

58. How can I get rich fast?

59. Do I know ANYTHING?

60. Is it too late to move countries?

61. Why can't my professors just cancel classes?

62. Where's the snow? I want a snow day.

I don't know about you, but I think these thoughts constantly throughout the day and the week. They just play on a continuous loop and never end. They're entertaining yet, why is all I ask. I'm probably the only one who thinks some of these, but the rest are some thought by my friends, so I figured I do have some normal thoughts.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
