There are a lot of tension and high emotions in the world right now, it is important for everyone to take the time to care for themselves and to be happy. If you need a little cheering up here are a few ways you can improve your mood.

1. Listen to music that makes you happy.

Whatever genre of music you listen to there is that one song that puts you in a good mood. If you can dance to the song that is even better.

2. Take 15 minutes to learn about something that interests you.

We all have something we wish we had more time to learn about, 15 minutes is enough time for you to make a dent in learning something new without it being time-consuming.

3. Plan a trip you want to take.

Maybe all you need is to visualize yourself somewhere new to lift your mood. You might want to visit some place that is only 45 minutes away or it could be a week-long road trip.

4. Indulge in your favorite snack.

I don’t care if you are on a diet or if your favorite snack is not healthy. Right now, we are working on making your mind healthy and if that calls for junk food or candy just do it.

5. Walk outside for at least 20 minutes.

Nothing makes me feel better than getting outside. I prefer to go on hikes but if I can’t go for a hike I just take a stroll around my neighborhood. Being outside clears my mind and makes me feel more at ease and happy.

6. Smile

The easiest thing anyone can do to make themselves happier is to smile. It doesn’t matter if you fake a smile, eventually, it will become a real smile. The only thing you need to do is make sure you get the eye squint when you fake a smile and soon enough you will be feeling good. There is a ton of research to prove it, so if you need some evidence go look it up.

Now if you will excuse me I am going to go do three of these things.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
