7 Ways To Stay Organized This Semester

Getting organized for school has always been tough for me, but these past two years in college has taught me that being organized is definitely a must when it comes to my classes. Here are some ways to stay organized this semester:

1. Keep A Planner And Calendar Updated

Planners are so handy when it comes to small assignments that are due in each class. It helps you keep track of all of your assignments in one place and forcing yourself to write it down will definitely help you remember better. When it comes to using calendars, I mostly use them for the most important dates in each of my classes such as an exam or project and put it in a place where I know I’m going to look at it. Both of these tools help me remember and are constant reminders of everything I need to get done!

2. Set Reminders On Your Phone

Nowadays, we are constantly on our phones 24/7, so why not use them to help with school? By setting reminders on our phones, it’ll help you remember to study for that important exam coming up!

3. Create Folders On Your Laptop For Each Class

Something that has really helped me this past year was making a separate folder for each of my classes on my laptop desktop. Doing this helped me organize all of the different documents and power points I needed for every class. This makes it so much easier when looking for those class notes, instead of scrolling through hundreds of documents on your computer; it’s only a few clicks away.

4. Have A Separate Notebook/Binder For Each Class

At the end of the semester, I always get lazy and don’t feel like carrying more than one notebook in my backpack, which leads to me writing notes from completely different classes all in one notebook. Keeping all class notes in separate notebooks and binders makes it so much easier when studying for an exam or just trying to find a piece of information in there, instead of flipping through mixed pages of notes.

5. Check Emails/School Portal Regularly

Reminders about homework, projects, and exams are usually sent pretty frequently during the semester, so always check your email as well as your school portal (such as USF’s Canvas) so you don’t miss any important information. Professors are trying to help you succeed by setting a weekly pace for assignments, so stay organized and pay attention to their announcements because it’s for your benefit!

6. Give Your Flash Drive A Home

Everyone has dealt with that pesky flash drive that you can’t seem to find when needed the most. Since they are so small, flash drives are beyond easy to lose, so pick a spot where you know it’ll be when you go to look for it and where it’ll go back to when you’re done; it can even go on your lanyard if you drive to school! This will save so much frustration, time, and even money so you don’t have to go buy a new one at 10 o’clock, the night before a project is due.

7. Lay Out All Your Necessities For Class Ahead Of Time

Now this is crucial to us late people, who are running behind for class and just grab the first notebook we see. Materials such as textbooks, notebooks, pencils or clickers, should be put in your backpack ahead of time so you are always prepared for class, and never leaving anything behind. Not only could you lose points for not bringing the required materials for class, but also it’ll just show your professor you’re a disorganized person and that is not a great impression that you are leaving. Packing ahead of time will completely destress your pre-class routine!

Stay motivated and stay organized this semester! Good luck!!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
