February is easily my least favorite month of the year. Not only is it cold and gray—February promotes loneliness with my least favorite holiday…that is Valentine’s Day.
If you are in college your second semester of college is now in full swing and the stress of keeping your grades up has already started to eat you alive.
So, what do you do to combat these basic stressors of life, where do you turn in your greatest need?
Do you turn to your friends? Family?
There is nothing wrong with doing these things but sometimes it’s hard to reach out! Take heart there is someone who knows your every struggle that will never leave your side.
If you feel like you may be at your breaking point take heart in these verses.
1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
This verse tells us that yes, times may be hard, we may feel like we can’t get any lower than we already are and that we can’t do this. Well maybe it seems like you can’t bear your burdens or temptation and maybe that’s true if you try to do so on your own but through seeking God we can believe that we will be able to overcome and endure the trials set before us.
Romans 8:35-39
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present or the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 5:1-3
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into his grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. No only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.
John 13:7
Jesus replied, “You do not know now what I’m doing, but later you will understand.”
Hebrews 4:15
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one that has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.
What does this mean for you? It means you can approach God in prayer with confidence that He understands your struggles. The creator of the Universe can empathize with you!
Isaiah 40:29
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
In all of these verses, we can find a common theme that captures the greatness of the God we serve. The God who can get us through every valley and dance with us on the mountaintop—if you are struggling there are many ways to find peace and comfort in the Bible.
