6 Reasons You Need To Plan A Vacation To Niagara Falls

Canada is such a beautiful country — there are mountains, lakes, rivers and of course, waterfalls. Located just 30 miles from Buffalo, NY, Niagara Falls sits at the edge of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Having just come back from vacation myself, here are seven reasons you need to stop what you're doing and book a hotel now.

1. Nothing more beautiful than nature

Literally. Like, the earth spit out this magnificent waterfall with tons of rocks at the bottom that the water flows over. It's so picturesque any time of the year. In the winter, it's almost frozen over and in the summer it's like a scene out of National Geographic.

2. Downtown is the place to be.

Just a few miles from the falls is a town that boasts famous attractions. Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum, Louis Tussaud's Wax Museum, Bird Kingdom, the SkyWheel, the Skylon Tower and a few casinos and waterparks are just a few of what the town has to offer.

3. The drinking age is 19 (on The Canadian side).

I had to throw this one in here because it appeals to so many college students my age. That means you can go to clubs, bars, casino's, and wineries. Which leads me to my next point...

4. Niagara Falls is wine country.

With over 25 wineries, Niagara Falls is most definitely the place to go for wine. Because of its location, Niagara Falls also has a unique 'ice wine.' Harvested only when the grapes are still frozen, ice wine can only be made during a few weeks in the winter.

5. Niagara-on-the-Lake is quite possibly the cutest town ever.

Filled with old quaint inns, historic bars and pubs and some of the best stores, Niagara-on-the-Lake is the perfect day trip to make. Some of the buildings have been there since the 1820s!

6. It's a huge historical town.

Did you know Harry Houdini frequented here and even shot a movie of him crossing the strong waters to save a young woman? Or that fifteen people plunged over the falls? Did you also know that relics from the War of 1812 were found at the base of the waterfall when the falls went dry from high winds and an ice dam?
