As human beings, mainly women, our emotions are known to control us. We often experience raging hormones and each day may bring something new. If caught in the right mood, one word could trigger tears or cause an outburst of laughter. Several things can affect the look one's face may portray. Whether it be work, school, boyfriend, family, significant other or even the weather outside, everyone will be affected in different ways. The emotions are uncontrollable, however, you can control how you react to it. There are six emotions that can either make you, or break you. These are:

1. Happiness

The number one emotion everyone would love to obtain. Happiness is obviously a good thing, right? But how does it affect you? If you are happy, do you tend to shop more or eat more? If so, this can potentially cause negative feelings, especially if you run out of money or find yourself a tad overweight. Those consequences eventually lead to depression or anxiety. Embrace happiness, smile a lot, laugh, tell a few jokes and you can even treat yourself a little but be sure to do it in a positive way.

2. Fear

The most common "fight or flight" emotion. Fear is a trigger emotion. It causes panic and can even make someone do something out of the ordinary. In a relationship if you have fear, it can cause a fight and eventually cause what you were scared of in the first place. Does fear cause you to simply run and give up hope, or do you do the opposite and fight back? Giving up hope causes us to "break". Take hold of your fears and fight back. You may find that you are capable of more than you let yourself know.

3. Love

The heart emotion. Love can make us do some crazy things. Like happiness, love is a good emotion. However, there are times that it can cause of do things we may not be proud of. Most people want to be in love. Hearts yearn for the feeling of compassion and fullness that a loved one can give us. But do not let it control you. Don't lose who you are in a battle to keep someone close. I've learned that people who are meant to be in your life, will be there. Concentrate on loving them and in a good way.

4. Embarrassment

The dreaded emotion. Most people hold back when thinking of participating in something, especially in front of crowds for fear of embarrassment. Have you ever made the decision to step away from a challenge or activity because you did not want others to laugh at you? This is one emotion we can train ourselves to control. Instead of missing out and getting upset or ever embarrassing moments, make the best of them. Laugh with everyone else, make a joke of it but most importantly, learn from it. We are all humans and we all make mistakes. Which means we have all been embarrassed at some point.

5. Hate

The mean emotion. Hate is quite the opposite of love, isn't it? No one wants to hate anyone, and no one wants to be hated, but it happens. A lot of times we hate someone because we have not let go of a grudge and forgiven whoever wronged us. Hate can cause behaviors in which do not represent the best version of yourself. It can cause you to be mean and say hurtful things. It can also block you from personal happiness. It is a hard one to change and let go of, but if we concentrate more on learning how to forgive, you will probably find a happier and better version of yourself. You may be wondering how hate can "make you". If you learn to forgive others and see the reason behind certain actions, you can become a better person. You can learn to see the side from the other foot. This means we are constantly learning and constantly striving to be a better person -- all which will lead to us to being a little more accepting of others.

6. Contentment

The satisfied emotion. Contentment can be good and bad. At some point in life, we all need to accept and love the life we are given. Make the most of it and find the happiness in what we have been given. Contentment allows you to be grateful and at peace with your life. However, too much contentment may make you less determined. Do not lose the part of you who still dreams and hopes for a better tomorrow. That is how we grow.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
