Finals are coming quickly to campus, and this is bound to lead to lots of stress. Once all of this is over however, everyone will be in need of a little bit of rest and relaxation. Each time I go home for break I try to take time to do these things. Not only are they fun, but also they allow me to calm down from all of the hard work of the semester. While Spring Break can also be filled with fun trips and vacations, implementing these will make your time whether at home or at the beach, even better. Use this Spring Break to rejuvenate!
Read a book.
Yes, you just spent an entire semester reading expensive textbooks and really long academic papers. I am talking about reading for the love of reading. Find a good book that you didn’t have time to read during the semester and dive right in. Remind yourself of the joy of reading when it isn’t required, whether it be a mystery, romance, or a New York Times Best Seller. I plan on reading Mindy Kaling and Amy Poehler’s most recent books. I bought them over Christmas break and still haven’t gotten to read them.
Get a pedicure.
Spring is the beginning of sandal season, so there is no better time to give your feet a renovation. You can go to a local salon and pick from one of their hundred of fun colors and enjoy the massage chairs. You can also set up a pedicure station at home or on vacation and make it a spa day with your friends. My mom and I have a tradition of getting O.P.I Pompeii Purple because it looks great with any pair of shoes.
Take a nap.
You spent your entire semester working on papers and presentations. I am sure you didn’t abide by the recommended eight hours of sleep a night. Use spring break to catch up on your Z's. Take a nap on the beach or cozied up on your couch -- either will make for a great Spring Break.
Watch a movie.
I like to go to movies when I am on break since I rarely can at school. It’s fun to see friends from home and meet up, not to mention the movie theatre popcorn. Netflix marathons are also great options for days when it is rainy and you cannot enjoy the beautiful weather. There is usually a huge list of movies that I want to see by the time I go home for break, and I hope to cross one or two off the list.
Have a family-style dinner.
My favorite part of being on break is being able to sit around the dinner table and talk with my loved ones. It is a chance to catch up on what has been going on in everyone’s lives and eat delicious food. Even if on a springbBreak trip, the opportunity to have a conversation around the table with friends is priceless.
