I thought that packing for college would be like packing for a really long vacation, and I have never been more wrong. It's the equivalent of moving into a first apartment, and the packing is brutal. Especially for someone like myself, who really loves her clothes.

After several hours of sorting, folding, hanging, and justifying, I've finally weeded my clothing collection down to a not so small collection of pieces I consider to be essential. Here is the thought process that created my college wardrobe.

1) Wow, I move to school in a month. I really should start packing.

2) Ooh, Netflix.

3) Wow, I move to school in a week. I really should start packing.

4) Ooh, Pinterest.

5) Wow, I move to school in 3 days. I really should start packing.

6) Ooh, Twi- NO.

7) Must. Find. Suitcase.

8) All my clothes will absolutely fit in here.

9) Will all my clothes fit in here?

10) I should only pack what I'll wear.

11) I'll wear this.

12) And this.

13) And this.

14) Yes, Mom, I do need 21 pairs of pants.

15) Now I won't have to do laundry for 3 weeks.

16) I'm basically a math major.

17) Oh my God, how do I do laundry?

18) MOM?

19) I wonder what the weather will be like at school.

20) Oh, wait, exactly like it is here.

21) Do I really need a parka before Thanksgiving?

22) Tbh, probably.

23) One pair of socks, two pairs of socks, three pairs of socks...

24) A person can never have too many pairs of socks.

25) So that's where I put it.

26) I didn't even know I owned this shirt!

27) I definitely need to bring it.

28) I don't even have THAT much clothing.

29) It's absolutely all going to fit.

30) Maybe.

31) I almost forgot to pack shoes.

32) All of my shoes serve a purpose.

33) Therefore, they all come.

34) Maybe I should buy more shoes.

35) I wonder if all of this is going to fit in the car.

36) What if it doesn't all fit in the car?

37) It's probably all going to fit in the car.

38) We'll just bring two cars.

39) Why are dorm rooms the size of a shoe box?

40) I'm going to need two closets.

41) I wonder if my roommate wants a closet.

42) Actually, I can't do this.

43) I'll just be a commuter.

44) Then I can wear what I want.

45) Get it together.

46) I don't need 21 pairs of pants.

47) Or 5 pairs of boots.

48) This isn't so bad.

49) This will definitely all fit in one closet.

50) Maybe.

51) I should be a professional organizer.

52) I should also stop shopping.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
