College is a beautiful balance of working hard and playing hard. But maintaining that balance is hard. Sometimes we get lost in studying, homework, and exams and forget to be human. However, we need to human now more than ever. We need to learn and grow and become adults. So, here is a list of 51 one-sentence reminders to help us become a little more human and a little less robotic.

Be kind and patient with yourself.

Take care of your body — it's the thing that gets you through every single day.

Hearing ‘no’ is not a negative thing.

You are your greatest asset — you need to give yourself the credit you deserve.

It's OK to have a bad day.

Mistakes are just as important as successes — don't give up!

You do not have to be right all the time.

It's OK to not know an answer.

When things get tough, that's when you need to be kindest to yourself.

You're the only one who can decide what makes or breaks you — not college.

It's OK to binge-watch Netflix.

Never be too proud to ask for advice.

Call your parents, siblings, friends, etc. — they care about you.

If you interact to negative things in a positive manner, it will benefit you in the long run.

Put your phone down.

Communicate how much people mean to you.

When you experience rejection, and you will, use it to help guide you forward.

You do not need to prove yourself to anyone.

Do not let anyone tell you what you are or are not going to be — you're the only one who can decide that.

There's no specific age that you need to have a boyfriend/girlfriend, career, job, or family of your own.

High school friends and college friendships end, and that is OK — it just happens and you don't need to feel guilty. 

Do not be afraid to be ‘selfish’.

You can have your own views.

Don't compare your behind-the-scenes to someone else's highlight reel on social media. 

You will have to challenge yourself.

Stop apologizing so much.

Being single is not a curse — it's a blessing.

You do not owe people explanations for your views and beliefs.

Be kind.

Switch that cup of coffee for a bottle of water every once in a while.

Step out of your comfort zone.

Be generous.

Make ‘you’ time.

Never let other’s successes make you feel behind or late.

Say yes more.

Try new things.

Find your purpose in everyday life.

Smile. Always.

Be bold.

Go somewhere new.

Find ways to de-stress that work for you.

Feeling lost is a gentle reminder that you are changing and improving, and that is OK.

You cannot change your past, but you can change your future.

Drink some water.

Exercise — go on a walk, go for a run, complete a workout.

Make sure you eat healthy.

You may not have conquered today but you got out of bed, and sometimes that is more than enough.

Life is messy, unfair, and unpredictable.

You are loved.

Hard work may not pay off immediately, but it is always worth it in the long run.

You can do this.
