Now, you may think that there is no way I can talk about dad bodies in 500 words. Is there that much to be said on a topic so meaningless? I think absolutely so. This is in no way bashing the dad bod; in fact, I want to praise the dad bod.
I hear girls everywhere talking about how dad bodies are "so not hot" but honestly, if a guy can maintain hotness with a dad body it only leads me to believe that he will be DILF (a rare and sacred find). Congrats hotties with dad bodies, you will be the fan favorite of your daughters' friends circa 2030.
The dad body parallels the curvy girl, and the curvy girl gets so much attention in the media. How often do you hear about clothes to wear for curvy women, or why "healthy" is the new "pretty"? Pretty damn often. It's time to address the dad body fad that is seemingly sweeping universities everywhere.
Both guys and girls all ask themselves the same question, "when did this happen?". "This" referring to getting fat. And when I think back to the demise of my high school body, I think to Thanksgiving break of my freshman year. It was visibly evident that I had been eating and drinking in mass quantities-- two things that will eventually lead to the downfall of your body image peak. It was all fun and games until my face started to resemble a large, large pumpkin.
Ladies, while you spend hours on end looking back at prom photos remembering the days when casual McDonald's after school was totally chill, just remember that your guy friends are too reminiscing on how highschool sports and genetics completely made their bodies what they were. The simple truth is that all of our metabolisms are deteriorating with every passing day.
Just like some guys are into the curvy girls, I think I may be into the dad body. Sue me?
There is something endearing about a dad bod, something that says "I don't care what is happening to my body, I will still wheel anyways". And quite frankly, I like that. I think its bold how guys with dad bodies can still maintain such a complex that their athlete friends may not have.
Being obsessed with body image only reflects an extremely self-conscious person and being confident is far more important. I'm not suggesting to reverting to being lazy person, I'm just saying being less stressed about body image is a far more fun and attractive way to live.
So boys, the next time you may think you look more like a father than a college student just know that some girl somewhere has a fetish for you and your beer belly. And speaking of beer, go grab a pitcher, it's about time.
