Ah, college…A wonderful world filled with new friendships, more freedom than we know what to do with and procrastination. Lots of procrastination. YouTube videos are my favorite time-wasters, and I love finding new channels full of excuses to put off studying. Here are my top five picks for must-view YouTube channels:
1. If you love funny, down-to-earth stories: Olan Rogers
When it comes to storytelling, Olan Rogers is the best of the best. Whether he's pranking someone in a Target bathroom, mooning his neighbor through a wireless printer, or reminiscing about playing paintball in middle school, his quirky stories are sure to leave you in stitches. If you're ever in Nashville, be sure to check out his Soda Parlor to play some arcade games and grab a yummy soda float. You may even be able to meet him when you stop by!
What to Watch: Ghost In The Stalls, Clues Stained In Ink, The Comeback Kid
2. If you're a Pentatonix fan: Superfruit
Scott Hoying and Mitch Grassi, also known as two-fifths of the world famous a cappella group, Pentatonix, have teamed up in their free time to make their very own channel! You can watch the adorable duo take on Internet challenges with special guests, cover popular songs (often better than the original artist), or answer questions from their fans on Twitter. You'll always have something new to watch because they put out new videos every Tuesday. Don't forget to check out Pentatonix's main channel, too!
What to Watch: Hip-Hop Goes Broadway, Pop Goes Broadway, The Photobooth Challenge
3. If you like bizarre and hilarious experiments and challenges: Good Mythical Morning
Popular YouTubers, Rhett and Link, have a side channel called Good Mythical Morning where they debunk well-known myths, take part in wacky taste tests, and even write songs on the fly. If you want to take a few minutes to laugh till you cry (and maybe get a little grossed out in the process), then this channel is for you!
What to Watch: Will It Deep Fry?, Singing Challenge ft. Lady Antebellum, Feet Only Challenge
4. If you enjoy hearing drunk people rant about things: Whine About It (BuzzFeed Video)
Drinking isn't my thing, but Matt Bellassai's drunken, bitingly sarcastic tangents about anything and everything are pure gold. This BuzzFeed collaborator sits at his desk while drunk and complains about all of life's problems. Give yourself a pat on the back that you're sober and watch a few of his videos!
What to Watch: The Worst Things About Fall, Reasons Mornings Are The Absolute Worst
5. If you're obsessed with a cappella music: Peter Hollens
A cappella music took the world by storm in the wake of "Pitch Perfect" and "The Sing-Off," and Peter Hollens is doing his part to prove just how amazing music made with just your voice can be. This one-man wonder arranges medleys of entire Broadway shows and sings all of the parts, does brilliant covers of popular songs, and even does precious duets with his equally talented wife. #RelationshipGoals
What to Watch: I See The Light, The Hanging Tree, Wicked Medley
