It's never too late to put those resolutions in action. So you started off your new year inhaling the leftover carbs trying to hydrate your body back to life with your favorite sugar-filled Gatorade, but now it's a few weeks later and it's time to get down to business. Here are a few ways you can change yourself for the better in 2016.
1. Keep a clean and organized living space.
We constantly forget that the environment in which we live has a huge impact on our mood. Sometimes we choose to neglect the pile of laundry that’s been stacking higher than the amount of procrastination it took to get this point, but we fail to realize that looking at that mess every day is killing our ambition to succeed in anything else. You can push the mountain of clothes under your bed or in your closet, but it's still an existing mess even if you can't see it. So quit holding yourself back and find a place for everything and your feng shui of 2016 will give you a clearer living space and an even clearer mind.
2. Wake up earlier.
Especially with daylight savings time killing our sunshine, it’s not going to make it any easier when we wake up only a few hours before sundown. Pretty soon that darkness becomes harmful to your mood and overall outlook on your life. Wake up early, go for a run, eat a full breakfast and have a relaxing morning creating a productive mindset for the rest of your day!
3. Set a schedule.
Waking up in the morning without knowing each day’s purpose can become a bit unsettling, especially for the perfectionist. Creating a daily or even weekly schedule can help settle your stresses of 2016. Make sure you leave time for yourself!
4. Stay away from unrealistic goals.
Immediately committing to a life of fruits and veggies is far fetched for the average dreamer, so start by easing your way into the healthy lifestyle week-by-week, giving up a certain food each week. You’re not just going to wake up with a million dollars in your left hand, so start budgeting and planning for a goal to get you to that million dollars, and someday it may come. Smaller yet realistic goals are going to give you more ambition to actually achieve them in the long run.
5. Try to keep your views and mindset as positive as possible.
Even throughout the year, we tend to give up on those goals that we have set, but this year, that is not an option. Keep positive quotes, people, and vibes around you, and your dreams will become reachable. Don’t get so down on yourself about things, learn to accept the things that didn’t work out, and switch your mindset to those that did. This year is going to be a big one with all the ups and downs that are ahead of you; you need to hold on tightly to that positive mindset!
