The "common cold" tends to have some of the worst common side effects.

During the Holiday season it is pretty common to get the "common cold". Many people try to do everything they can in order to prevent themselves from catching that cold, but sometimes it still gets us. In this endless cold weather, it is hard to manage to make it through the whole winter without at least a small cold.

Here are the Top 5 worst parts of having a common cold, according to me, myself, and I.

1. Dragon Breathing

No matter how hard you try it is almost impossible to breath normally through your nose. When you are able to breathe through your nose, it feels as if you are only breathing through one nostril and its a cool stream that kind of burns. You have to open your mouth when you breath in order for it to be comfortable. Anyone who has had a cold knows what dragon breathing is when they try brushing their teeth. It's even worse when you're trying to sleep and you have to breath through your mouth and then your mouth gets try and it's a constant battle of trying to breathe. Dragon Breathing is probably the worst of the worst!

2. Endless Nose Dripping

Snot dripping from the nose is just not attractive. It doesn't matter who you are as a person, this is just unflattering for everyone. Let just stuff our pockets with tissues to pull out and wipe our noses. Lets not forget to mention the trumpet sound that comes out of our nose when we blow it. The endless dripping of snot causes a dry nose because of the endless amounts of times we have to blow it, which in turn can cause us to have random nose bleeds. This just sucks!

3. Constant Sneezing

If you are anything like me, you sneeze multiple times to begin with. When it comes to having a cold this is even worse. Sneezing 20 times is a row is nothing out of the ordinary when you have a cold. We can't forget about the snot that comes out when we all sneeze. Excuse me while I sneeze multiple times with snot that comes out, but I still would appreciate a "Bless You"!

4. Scratchy Throat

This is the first sign of a cold. When we wake up in the morning with a cold, this sudden fear of having strep throat is a realization and we take the initial step to fight it off. However often times, it's unsuccessful and we still end up with this scratchy thick feeling throat that makes talking and swallowing things impossible.

5. Kermit the Frog Voice

When we have a cold, it's so horrible to have a voice that makes us sound like kermit the frog. It's hard to continue to go about our lives pretending we aren't sick when we sound like a Muppet's character. It also gives others a perfect reason to make fun of us or for people be afraid to come near us. Sometimes it's nice when we don't want to socialize with others, but more often than not, it just plain sucks. We all just want to talk normally!!

I guess all around the common cold is not an attractive time for any of us, nor is it something that we can avoid fully. I guess the only positive thing is that everyone goes through these when fighting off a cold.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
