5 Ways To Productively Procrastinate

As the school year progresses, students fall into the comfort of procrastination. Let's be honest, working under pressure of a deadline has brought us all major benefits. After all, better results mean higher GPAs, but how do you procrastinate, without seeming like you wasted precious time doing absolutely nothing? Here are just a few ways to procrastinate your homework assignments, but still cross off your checklist.

1. Get Some Sleep

For a student, there is no such thing as getting too much sleep. The best way to procrastinate is to take a little nap. Or maybe, a long nap? With school, clubs/sports, and work, students rarely get enough time to sleep. Nothing can be better than waking up refreshed and more ready to start the day with a clear head.

2. Netflix

Let's face it. We all have a long list of movies and TV shows that we need to watch and catch up on. From "Orange is the New Black" to "Fight Club", we've seen it all on Netflix. Students rarely get the time to watch anything. Why not sit back and relax with a bowl of popcorn? Let yourself fall into the thrill of a car chase and a bank robbery. It's definitely a nice way to let yourself forget about the stress of a 20 page paper for your English class.

3. Social Media

Who hasn't said "I'll only be on it to check my messages" only to look up at the clock and realize you've spent two hours of your life surfing through your Twitter feed? Whether it'd be Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, or just about any other social media site, we cannot help but be hooked to the various media platforms. Take some time away from your homework assignments to catch up with your friends while staying under your comfy blanket in your pj's. The best part is, you definitely won't get bored.

4. Baking/Cooking

Need to de-stress? Why not cook away the looming deadline that keeps coming closer as the days progress. If you don't know how to cook or bake, this is the perfect opportunity to pick up that spatula and look through a cookbook for a recipe to master. The best thing is, you'll have all that food to eat while you watch your movies on Netflix! What better way than to procrastinate in more than one way. The best part is, you can even find recipes on Pinterest. Just remember to not get lost on it to the point that you forget you still need to cook!

5. Shopping

This goes for all us shopaholics out there. Go out and get those must have jeans you've been wanting for the longest time. It's okay to spend some money on yourself to make yourself feel better. To take it a step even better toward the comfort zone, do some online shopping. With the access of internet, get the things you need most while again, staying under your comfy blanket in your pj's. This way, your feet won't even get tired and you'll be able to shop at more stores with just a few clicks.

You can still be productive while procrastinating. With so many options for procrastinating made available, sometimes it can be hard to find what you want to do. This list is only some of the things that a student can do to be productive while still procrastinating. So put your homework away from your eyes and mind, and take out some time to do something else.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
