Christmas break is finally over. All the presents have been opened, all the food has been eaten, and you've been as lazy as physically possible. Now, it's time for the spring semester to start, and you're not sure whether to be excited, nervous, or downright angry. Whether you're pumped or absolutely dreading the new semester, here are the five things you should do to make sure the beginning of this new semester is the best it could possibly be.
Step 1: Make sure you're completely organized for your new classes.
Making sure you have everything in order for your new classes, before they start, will help you out A LOT as you begin the new semester. By having all your notebooks and folders set up, your laptop ready to go to take notes, and most of your books bought, you'll save yourself mounds of stress trying to get organized while swamped with everything else at the beginning of the semester.
Step 2: Get yourself into new social groups or workout classes.
By getting involved in more extra curricular activities, like joining the choir, or getting involved in your school's club volleyball team, you'll not only expand your friend group, but also keep yourself busy during the new semester. Everyone likes some down time, but there's nothing worse than being super bored when you're off at college, trust me, Netflix can get boring after a while. Joining a workout class is also a great way to get to know new people, and it also makes sure you work off all those late night What-a-burger runs and stress chocolate bars.
Step 3: Make an effort to get together with your friends.
You've been on break for a while, at home, hanging out with your friends from high school. You've loved being home, but you're ready to get back with all your friends on campus. Make sure to all get together and hang out at the beginning of the semester. You haven't seen each other in about a month, and I'm sure there's plenty to catch up on. Whether it's the fling you had with the guy from high school, or just relaying the ridiculous amounts of food you ate over the break, getting together with all your friends will remind you that with friends like yours, you can fight through anything this semester throws at you.
Step 4: Party it up!
Everyone's back on campus, and there's bound to be a ridiculous amounts of parties the first weekend back. Grab your friends, and go out! The beginning of the new semester is always a little stressful, and going out to parties with your best friends is a great way to blow off steam and remind yourselves of all the fun stuff coming up in the new semester. It's also a great way to ignore all the upcoming papers and tests this new semester is going to bring for just a little bit longer.
Step 5: Remind yourself not to stress too much.
College is supposed to be one of the best times of your life, so make sure that's the truth! Remember not to stress out too much, all those new syllabi look terrifying right now, but just remember you'll get everything done and you'll get through it all. Remember you always have your professors to go to for help, and your friends will always be there every step of the way to help you over whatever hurdle you come across.
