I do not know about you, but I tend to get tired of listening to the same 10 songs on the radio over and over. It gets a bit redundant. Well, I believe there is no better way to avoid this then to hop across the pond and listen to some music from the land of tea and the Queen. Most Americans just listen to what's popular in America, unfortunately, but it's time to branch out. Here are five artists from the UK that I love, and that every American should start listening to!
1. Jess Glynne
You might have heard her voice in the 2014 smash hit by Clean Bandit "Rather Be," or in a Coca-Cola commercial, but there's much more to hear from this red-haired beauty! Her passionate voice, upbeat tracks, and moving lyrics are definitely worth a listen.
2. James Bay
If John Mayer and Jason Mraz are your thing, you'll dig James Bay. His folk-pop sound is super addictive, and will leave you wanting more. He's also not too shabby looking. Not to mention he rocks a killer hat all the time.
3. Jessie Ware
Her 2012 track "Wildest Moments" had some brief success in the U.S. but not as much as it should have. And her 2014 track "Say You Love Me" gained popularity in the alternate ending of the film "Fifty Shades of Grey." But her soulful and timeless voice shouldn't be passed by so quickly. Take a listen.
4. Rudimental
This drum and bass band will get your body moving with their epic tracks featuring countless artists. Not only will your hips shake, but the lyrics won't be able to escape your mind for at least a week. Their song "Lay It All On Me" has done pretty well in the U.S. since its release in November 2015, but certainly needs to be heard by more ears.
5. Ella Eyre
This soulful R&B and pop artist has made some big moves in the UK even before the age of 21, when most 21-year-olds in the U.S. haven't even graduated college. She's been featured on tracks by Rudimental and Bastille, but her powerful vocals are what sets her apart from the back. Just go ahead and listen to her emotional rendition of Jermaine Stewart's 1985 hit.
Well, there you have it. The top five UK artists that every American should know about. Add them to your Spotify playlists now, or buy their albums and support them on iTunes; your ears will thank me later.
