The first day of school is quite a memorable experience. The air is filled with the smell of fresh textbooks, newly packaged pens, and iClickers. The sidewalks are packed with students who are yawning, sprinting -- or sometimes even yawning while sprinting to their first official class of the semester. Yet, there is something specific that always comes along with the first day of school: a first impression.
The idea of a first impression is unique for everyone, and given that there are so many students on a college campus, you’re destined to see a variety of different first impressions. Here are five types of people you’ll see on the first day of school.
1. The “no makeup” makeup.
This is a girl who wants it to seem like she isn’t wearing any makeup at all when, in fact, she is. This girl probably got up an hour before class to perfect her makeup in hopes of making it look completely natural. Sometimes, it really does pay off and her face will look totally untouched, whereas other times it’s pretty obvious she has concealer underneath her eyes.
2. The post bid day babies.
If you’re school is anything like mine, sorority bid day usually occurs right before the first day of school. The brand new babies are always told to wear their bid day shirts on the first day of classes in hopes of finding their new sisters. If you didn’t think you could read Greek letters before, that will change after the first day of school.
3. The try hard.
This person tries way too hard to be fashionable and trendy on the first day of school. I understand that people are entitled to their own taste, but wearing wedges to class is slightly uncomfortable. Plus, why waste a good outfit just for your professor?
4. The “I just rolled out of bed.”
These people, literally, roll out of bed in the morning and stroll on into class wearing sweatpants and baggy T-shirts. They are always on time to class because they don’t spend any unnecessary time getting ready in the morning. They are the definition of chill.
5. The workout model.
This is a person who specifically wears gym clothes, and gym clothes only, to class. Yet oddly enough, it appears that they don’t actually go to the gym. It’s obvious that gym clothes are form fitting and sometimes people want to show off their muscular bodies, but if you’re not going to the gym why waste the extra pair of running shorts?
