If you are anything like me, you are dead the day after Christmas. Family events, eating, presents, socializing, being around people 24/7 makes me exhausted (although it is very fun). I wake up on the 26th feeling like I am extremely hungover even though I haven't taken a single sip of anything.

I get headaches from all the running and talking. Then comes nausea from the constant eating and carrying food that is still stacked up to the top in the fridge. Also, don't forget the sleepiness that comes from the non-stop Christmas movie attack that must happen the entire day.

It is all lovely and I am the biggest fan of Christmas, but the 26th is always the worst day. So, here are five tips for surviving the dreadful day after Christmas.

1. Hydrate yourself

Whether or not your holiday was a "dry" time, drink water all day. No need to put your body through the torture of dehydration after stuffing ham in your mouth for three hours. The ham was delicious, now nourish your body too.

2. Get all the blankets

The day after Christmas is well-deserved rest. Grab any blanket at all, fluffy, long, short, handmade, etc. Wrap yourself up like a post-Christmas burrito and take a nap. Trust me, everyone in your house will be thinking the same thing, so no judgment for snoozing off all the times you watched Elf yesterday. I know your struggle.

3. Eat leftovers

I know your stomach is still full of all the best food Christmas had to offer, but there is something magical about leftovers.I know your mom would appreciate if you could decrease the stacks in her fridge, so go all in and enjoy those mashed potatoes a second time.

4. Find anything but Christmas movies

You are going to need to detox yourself from all Christmas cheer until next year. Drain yourself of saying "Merry Christmas you filthy animal," and find a movie that isn't decorated with red and green. I get it, I love Elf too, but I recommend any romance movie from the 2000's. It's fun to watch, but you won't get invested.

5. Become an introvert

You managed to survive another year of questions and comments from family that I am sure you didn't want to answer, but you did it. So, celebrate by taking the day to not exist. Go into your room, hide under your blankets with water and food. Enjoy the day all to yourself. You deserve it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
