It's finally summer and the best way to celebrate for broke college students is to take a road trip. Road trips are an amazing bonding experience for friends and one of the best ways to travel the country. The only downside is America is gigantic and some road trips are excruciatingly long. Here are some things to remember before taking an adventure this summer.

1. Have plenty of snacks.

I don't know about you, but I know nothing makes me hungrier than traveling. Remember to stock the car up with snacks and to stop to eat regularly. Everyone in the car will be grateful there's chips when they get "hangry" and there's no where to stop for 40 miles.

2. Appreciate the scenery.

This may be the only chance you get to see these sights, be sure to take them in. Don't rush to get from one place to the next, it may make your drive longer, but you'll thank yourself for taking the time to slow down.

3. Play fun music.

Nothing is better than jamming out to great music with your friends in the car. This is especially important on long car rides because sitting in the same spot for five hours straight can get incredibly boring. Having an awesome playlist during the ride will help entertain everyone.

4. Stay calm.

Something is bound to go wrong when you go on a road trip, it's just an unwritten rule of the universe. You're going to hit traffic, the driver in front of you will be going way too slow, you may even get lost. The trick is to stay calm and roll with the punches. Getting frustrated isn't going to help anything.

5. Treat yourself.

Sitting for long periods of time is killer on your body. Make sure to periodically get out of the car and stretch your legs. Walk around a little to get blood flow back to normal. Nobody was ever upset after treating themselves.

Thank you members of the Pawnee parks and recreation department for your tips on how to survive long car rides.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
