Every four years, the world is truly graced with the Summer Olympics--my favorite sport to watch in these games has always been the Women's Gymnastics events. More than ever, the USA Women's Gymnastics team is completely, irrevocably dominant. From Simone Biles on literally every single apparatus (even her self-proclaimed "worst event" of the uneven bars), to Laurie Hernandez's contagious facials in her high-energy floor routine, to Madison Kocian as the resident uneven bars specialist, team USA is more than a force to be reckoned with -- they are unstoppable. Here are the five thoughts that every gymnastics fan has while watching the Final Five absolutely dominate the competition.
1. Is there anything that Simone Biles can't do?
She's 19 years old and just barely missed qualifying for the London Olympics, because she was two whole days younger than the age cut-off in 2012. The woman has a tumbling passed named after her -- and it's the most difficult pass in the world. Who else can say that?!
2. Marta Karolyi is a national treasure.
Who cares if she's originally from Romania? After coaching Team USA for the past few decades alongside her husband Bela, it's nearly impossible to imagine Olympic Gymnastics without Marta's affinity for crystal-encrusted leotards for her athletes, and watching her face light up when the Final Five nails another routine is a joy to behold.
3. They managed to find deductions?!
Marta's disdain is all of us when the scores come back and we once again question the sanity of the judges. What do you mean Aly wasn't rock-solid on beam? Or that Gabby wasn't flawless on the bars? Either explain it, or give them crazy-high scores we all know they deserve!
4. Nastia Liukin's commentary is spot-on.
From her individual all-around gold medal finish in Beijing in 2008 to now serving as an announcer in Rio, we can always count on Nastia to explain those aforementioned deductions, as well as remind us all precisely how incredible Team USA really is.
5. Four years isn't often enough for Olympic gymnastics!
While there are World Championships every year, nothing quite compares to watching Team USA win gold yet again on the Olympic stage. Can't wait to see us dominate all over again in Tokyo in 2020!
