Dog are loving animals and are part of the family. People who have dogs, and know how to treat them should stop and think sometimes about what their dog really wants them to know.
1. Dogs Need Time To Understand
Your dog needs you to know that they are trying their best to understand what you're asking of them. Dogs are like kids. They may not understand they can't pee in the corner like a child may not understand he/she is not supposed to wet their pants. They want you to know that they are trying to make you happy and are working hard to please you. You're their family and they just want to please you.
2.They Won't Forget How You Treat Them
Your dog will be terrified of you if all you do is punish them. Again, dogs are like kids and learn by tone of voice. If you constantly yell or spank them, your dog will fear you and could potentially harm you. Your dog trusts you to love them and treat them with respect. They deserve respect like you or I.
3. Never Use The Crate As Punishment
A dogs crate should be their safe area. This place is where they go to nap, or where they go when they are afraid. Using the crate as punishment only makes their time in it worse. No dog wants to be stuck in a small crate for long periods of time. Dogs are meant to be free and loving, not caged and afraid.
4. Take Care Of Them Their Whole Life
Most dogs live to be 8-15 years old. If that seems like a short time to live, that's because it is. Imagine dying before you're even old enough to drive. Watching a loved one die is never easy, but imagine if it was you, and everyone you loved left you in your time of need. Your dog is your family and you're all that your dog has, love them and be with them till their very last breath.
5. You're All They Have
You have a job, friends, and a social life. Your dog only has you. Many dogs have separation anxiety due to abandonment issues or due solely on the fact that you are all they have in this world and they're scared you'll leave them. If a dog a treated with love, respect and kindness you will be their entire world.
From the time your dog is born to the time they die, they could have one, two or even 10 owners. It all depends on how you treat them. Treat them like dirt and neglect them, they will try to run away or even harm you. Treat them like you'd treat your child and they will love you for their entire life. Your dog is part of your family, they depend on you more than you will ever understand. Next time you see your dog just tell him or her that you love them. Simple enough and you think they may not understand, but they do.
