12 Signs You're Obsessed With Your Dog

The human race has been blessed. We've been given dogs. There's nothing quite like them and if you've ever owned one, you know exactly what I'm talking about. That's why I think it's pretty easy to admit that it's very easy to become obsessed with such creatures. All it takes is one of those beautiful puppy dog looks with those innocent eyes and I melt...into a puddle...of puppy love. With myself being an obsessive dog owner, I'd like to point out the key points.

1. You can't go to the store without picking something up for your buddy at home. Whether it's a dog toy, more dog treats, a memory foam bed, or just a new food or water bowl, you know they deserve. It's very easy to spend money without even blinking an eye. In fact, you would prefer to buy them something over yourself. Crazy, right? Wrong. Just another day for an obsessed dog person.

2. You take them with you everywhere you go, or at least attempt to. If it's a quick ride to the store or a run into town or just a drive because it's a nice day, you always try to make sure they feel included and also because you can't stand to watch that face look out the window at you as you drive away. Of course you can't take them when you go out to eat or when you head to school, but the thought always crosses your mind. And you know that if you're truly obsessed, they always get shotgun.

3. Your day revolves around them. When you plan your day and make your to-do lists, taking your dog for a walk or taking them on an adventure with you is always on the top of your list. They come first.

4. You remember to feed them when you forget to feed yourself. Their hunger is of course more important than yours. Why wouldn't it be?

5. When you call home it's mostly to check up on them. If you're at college or moved away from home, you have to make sure they're still doing okay. They're your babies and if you can't be with them you need to make sure they're surviving without you.

6. You make a bigger deal about their birthdays than you do about your own. If they turn another year older, you have everything you need for a celebration. Cake, party hats, balloons, and tons of dog toys are all essential for a good party. You know they appreciate it, even if you're not sure they fully understand what's going on. You pretend they do and carry on with the show.

7. You have all of the high end accessories for your dog. You have the heated water bowls for outside, the toughest dog toys in all the land, and of course the best memory foam beds around.

8. You make all furniture dog friendly. This just means that when it's cleaning day, you also vacuum all furniture as well.

9. Your bed is their bed. Let's be real, if they don't sleep next to you at night, are they even your dog? Well yeah, they are, but you just may not be as obsessed with them as you think.

10. Your camera roll only consists of photos of your dog. What else is worthy of taking up space that could be saved for them? That's right, nothing.

11. You have about thirty different nicknames for your dog. Each time you see them, something new comes to you.

12. When you get home from school, work, or anything else, it's necessary to spend a decent amount of time with them reminding them that you sill love them even though you left them for most of the day.

Even if you don't match up with all of these signs, I'm sure you're very aware of the importance of a dog and their love. It's also important to remind yourself of how much your love means to them. Always appreciate your furry friends.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
