Heading off to college can be a stressful time. There's lots to plan, figure out and do. But what messes freshmen up the most, are the little things they wouldn't think to pack. Even when you're overthinking it, here are the five things you should definitely consider brining along.

1. Tool kit.

Now, you're not gonna need a full tool box, with power drills. Just a small, basic set of tools. Screwdrivers, flashlight, wrench, measuring tape, duct tape and maybe some spare batteries -- you never know. Especially for those with more technical majors, these may come in handy for projects.

2. Decorations.

This one might sound strange, but hear me out. Especially when your first year student, meeting new people, it's important how you maintain and keep your room. When people come by to introduce themselves or whether you meet someone and invite them over to play video games, what's on your walls says a lot about who you are and can be great conversation starters. You don't have to be a Pinterest guru with a throughly decked out room, but having some photos, posters or art on the walls can really make this new place fee like home.

3. Dish soap and hand soap.

Some dorm bathrooms do not supply soap! Usually it is suite style living but it's an absolutely must. You also may not think about it, but there is (usually) not a dishwasher in most dorms. Consider bringing along a small bottle of soap and a sponge for your water bottles and dishes!

4. Life.

Dormitories can be pretty dreary. Plus there's a chance your roommate could get all the windows on their side of the room. Think about bringing a fish, or maybe some kind of plant to liven up the space. Most campuses allow small fish tanks and small cactuses; succulents come in all shapes and sizes!

5. Power strips (with surge protectors).

There may not be a ton of outlets in your room, but you will defiantly have a lot to plug in! phones, laptop, microwave, mini fridge, lamp -- some people even have coffee machines! Plus, your roommate's stuff. And make sure you get them with surge protectors!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
