5 Things To Remember During The Miami Football Season
State of the U

Football szn is the best szn! You get to go to the tailgates, then watch the Miami Hurricanes at the Hard Rock Stadium! Football games are thrilling experiences that everyone should be involved in during your college years at The U. The best of all.... your home tickets are included in your tuition! Which brings me to my list of things to remember for football season...

1. Don’t forget your Cane Card!

It is very easy to forget your cane card especially if it’s not in a phone wallet. However, if you want to go into the stadium for the game, your Cane Card is your ticket and is your way home on the school buses! It is crucial you do not forget this, because it can make a fun time disappointing…

2. Don’t leave the buses with drinks

Whether you are traveling on the school bus or a fraternity bus, do not leave the bus with a drink in your hand, even a Solo cup! No matter what is in it, there are cops everywhere outside the stadium, waiting to ask you what is in the cup. To save yourself from trouble, to have a great day, and avoid problems with the police.

3. Have water on hand

You will be in the hot sun all day, moving and dancing for the Canes! So you WILL get dehydrated! Make sure you are drinking water throughout the day to avoid feeling ill or passing out. Trust me, you will forget to drink water and may need the paramedics to come… you do not want that to happen...

4. Bring a portable charger

You will want to snap story or instagram pictures of you and your friends at the game/tailgate, which will rack up some likes or views. But, it will also drain your phone battery. You do not want to have a dead phone in the middle of Hialeah. Especially if you miss the buses, you cannot call an uber! This is why you should bring an easy and basic portable charger, so you can be saved from scary situations.

5. Bring money... but not too much!

You should bring money for food and transportation if you are in distress. However, you do not want to bring too much money or valuable items because they may get ruined or lost at a tailgate and you won’t get them back (AKA expensive sunglasses or shoes). To save yourself from being upset, be careful about what you bring and think how upset you’d be if they were ruined or lost.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
