There is no denying the fact that in just a couple of days Donald Trump will be inaugurated into the White House. People have so many mixed emotions about one person. Some people are mad because of the rude things he's said, and some people are excited because they hope to finally see some action taking place in the national government after years of political gridlock. However you feel about our new president, here are some things that we can expect when Donald Trump takes his place in the White House.
1. Obamacare Bites The Dust
The Affordable Care Act is something that Republicans have been against since the beginning. Now that the government has a Republican majority, Obamacare will most probably be repealed. Trump, throughout his campaign, has pointed out flaws in the Act and has made plans to repeal it. Now the budget committees have created a budget resolution that, if enacted, will cause Obamacare to disappear over the next two years.
2. Russia And America... BFF's?
In light of recent news, relations have been tense among the US and Russia. Trump has claimed on several occasions that he knows information about the Russian hacking that no one else knows about. Will Trump bring back the expelled ambassadors? Once he's in office will he just dismiss the charges Obama has placed on Russia? Now that Trump has selected ex-Exxon CEO as his Secretary of State, who also has very close relations with Putin, it's unlikely further action will be taken against Russia.
3. Right To Life
For anyone who knows the Republican party, they know that they have wanted to overturn Supreme Court decisions such as Roe v. Wade. Trump has never explicitly stated he wants to make abortion illegal, but has implied several times that if a Supreme Court justice is nominated by him, he will likely be pro-life. This could possibly make abortion illegal and Trump has said that if abortion is made illegal then a punishment will be created if women do try to get an abortion. The future of abortions is unknown, but there is no doubt that it will be brought up at least once in the following four years.
4. LGBTQ Community
Trump has never been clear about he feels about this community. He talks about how he supports a traditional marriage and he wants to appoint a justice who would overturn same-sex marriage. However, he has also carried around a rainbow flag in show of his support for the community. Was it all a publicity stunt? Mike Pence, Trump's VP, has expressed his dislike for same-sex marriage, but Trump has resisted his proposals to ban same-sex marriage. Currently the future of this issue is unclear, Trump has made no comment to further clear his position on the issue.
5. Let's Build a HUUUGE Wall
Throughout his campaign, Trump's main headline was to build a wall between Mexico and America in hopes of blocking out illegal immigrants. Trump believes that these immigrants are the reason for crime in America. That may not be the case, but Trump is definitely insistent on this wall and no one knows what will happen once it's built and where the money is going to come from to build it.
No matter how you feel about Trump, #Notmypresident, he will take office. These are the top five things that you should expect to happen when he finally enters the white house.
