Ah, Memorial Day! Better known as the amazing three day weekend you get at the end of May that begins the unofficial start of summer. With the weather as great as it has been, I bet you're wondering "What could I do this Memorial Day?" Well, here's just a few of my suggestions:

Go to Coney Island

Brooklyn is home to the most amazing amusement parks in all of New York City, CONEY ISLAND and LUNA PARK (if you don't know the difference you're not a real Brooklynite), which both are officially open every day starting Memorial Day weekend. Kick back and enjoy the rides and Nathan's hot dogs on a fun filled Memorial Day with your family and friends. Feeling a little hot? Kick off your shoes and take a breather on the beach. Coney Island Bay may not be the best beach in NY or the cleanest, but for a beach day it gets the job done. Bring a towel, bring some water and prepare to spend the entire day having some fun in the sun.

BBQ in a park

The weather has been looking really nice this past week, so why not take it to your advantage? Kick back in the park and fire up the grill and get to cooking. Prospect Park, Marine Park and Seaview Park are just a few examples of huge parks with enough space for you to get that summer time grilling going. Just make sure you get a license to barbecue before you accidentally violate any codes.

Go to the movies

This is the best time to go to the movies! Everyone will be outside, so why not take advantage of the empty theaters and go see a movie. "X-Men" and "Alice Through the Looking Glass" just came out on Friday! Go to the UA Court Street Cinema 12, and after your movie, why not take a stroll in the neighborhood. It's bound to be lively with all the holiday cheer.

Throw a party

Call up a couple friends and throw a little get together. Fire up the grill and throw some burgers and hot dogs on it, this shindig is about to get started! Barbecues in the back yard, kids playing on the stoop in the front, and running to the adults in the back for money because they can hear the ice cream truck. Nothing screams Brooklyn more than that, so why not kick off the unofficial start of summer by doing some lazy Brooklyn summer night activities?

Go to the parade

Who wants to go all the way to the city for the parade when there's one right at home. On May 30 at 11 a.m., go out and remember our fallen soldiers at the 149th Kings County Memorial Day Parade at John Paul Jones Park in Bay Ridge. Check out their website for more info.

And remember, have a happy and safe Memorial Day!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
