The holiday season can be crazy hectic and super frustrating, but all of that aside, it is important that we remember what we have, who we have, and what we appreciate specifically during this time. For the most wonderful time of the year, here are a few things I am especially grateful for during the Holiday Season:

1. Family

Your family will be with you forever, and ever, and ever. These people share your DNA. That’s something that you can’t overlook in case you need a kidney or something. The holidays especially are a wonderful time to remind your loved ones that you a grateful for them.

2. Supportive People

In the coming year, let’s all make it a goal to surround ourselves with more supportive people. Let’s make it a goal to keep those who want what’s best for us around us, and let’s make sure that we remind them that we love them, cherish them, and support them too.

3. Quality Time

This kind of combines the two above, but it’s essential to spend the time you have with people you love, care about, and cherish. Time is precious. There is no reason to spend time with people who do not look out for your best interest.

4. Memories

The holidays are a wonderful time to make memories. For me, weird/bad memories make the best stories. Did my mom totally trauma block burning the turkey and a few other choice items a couple of years ago during Christmas? Yes, she did. But you know what? I didn’t.

Take your tacky Christmas pictures with your ugly sweaters. It’ll be worth it in at least five years.

5. Love

Romantic or otherwise, love with all your heart. Be open to love during the close of the year, and be open to love in the coming year. Love love, and be loved. Allow yourself to take risks, and love who you love whoever that may be. <3

Happy Holidays!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
