5 Things That Just Cannot Be Taught

So, here are the ones I've discovered.

There are some things in life that no one can teach you. You have to learn them yourself through life lessons, observing your world, and thinking how you want to think. You need to go out and discover these things all on your own.

1: Your Passions

Sure. Your parents can tell you to become a doctor. Your friends can tell you to become a teacher. Your teachers can tell you to become successful, but what if you don't want to be any of those things? You need to do something that will make you happy.

At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that you're happy. You do not need to own a fancy car. You do not need the newest phone or computer. You have to go out and decide for yourself what job or life passion is going to make you the happiest. You're mental well being is worth it. I promise.

2: Your Favorite Anything

Absolutely no one can tell you that your favorite color is purple if it's not. You do not have to pretend that something is your favorite just to impress someone else. Those types of people aren't worth your time. If your favorite color is pea soup green and you love listening to country on the weekends but rap on Mondays, that's what you like. No one cal tell you otherwise.

Bending your personality to match someone's expectations will not only create a false image of you, but you will hurt your mental well being. You will know deep down inside that the person you are portraying is not you, and it will eat at you until you let it go. Trust me. Just be yourself.

3: How to Fall in/out Love

No one call tell you how to fall in or out of love. It's one of those things that sort of happens. Most people say that they know the moment they started to love someone, and perhaps, that's true. I can't tell you what your love will feel like compared to mine. Everyone experiences it differently.

And, if you begin to fall out of love, you will feel it. You might not know what's happening at first, but you will know. No one can tell you how or why that happens either, but it does. You need to learn what those things feel like for you. It will happen naturally. You don't have to worry.

4: Who Your Friends Are

Only you can tell who your true friends are. No one can tell you that Bob in the corner is your friend when you don't feel like he is. Your definition of a friend will be different than mine, and the next person will tell you the same. Each friend will do different things for you as well.

Your "best" friend will be different to you than just a friend, but only you will know how that is. You also need to keep in mind that your best friend might not see you as theirs. Everyone is different.

5: How to Relax

No one can tell you how you relax. Only you will know what calms you down. Only you will know if a hot bath in candle light will ease your nerves at the end of the day. Perhaps, you're someone who enjoys listening to loud heavy metal. No one can tell you how to handle your stress.

You have to take care of yourself how you need to. Everyone is different, and while you may share similar techniques as someone else, only you can teach yourself how to unwind at the end of a long and hard day. It isn't hard to do.

There are still more things that no one else but yourself can teach you. There are more things that you won't know unless you go out and explore on your own. You won't know what type of person you are unless you take the time to think about it. Sometimes you just have to sit back, relax, and take the time to learn about yourself. No one can do it for you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
