Not much of a morning person? Do you find it hard to relate to the early risers of the world? There are some people who genuinely just really enjoy sleeping. Sleep is a great thing for our bodies- as it is extremely beneficial for well-being and health! Are you one of those people who gets super excited to cuddle up in your bed with your ridiculous amount of pillows, knowing you don’t have to set an alarm for the next morning? It’s the BEST feeling! Sleeping makes us HAPPY. Life can get crazy busy, your weekdays are packed and often your weekends don’t allow you to slow down either. So for my fellow people who enjoy the limited time they get to catch some extra snooze in the mornings it can make you pretty upset when someone wakes you up before it’s absolutely necessary. Here are 5 things that people who love sleep know to be true, when they’re woken up early or before their alarm (and it’s not pretty!)

  1. Anger.
    1. You feel anger. The feeling of serious resentment, annoyance, and irritability will be exposed when someone forces us out of bed before our original plan. Watch out.
  2. Distress.
    1. Feeling like this is the worst situation you’ve ever had to deal with and the thought of having to actually drag yourself out of bed is excruciating.
  3. Contemplating life.
    1. Do you REALLY have to go to work today? MUST you get that homework assignment done? Maybe you can do it later, or not at all. Maybe you’re “sick.” Or maybe you can move somewhere tropical and live a much more laid back life where sleeping is acceptable. Any other option really, rather than getting up.
  4. Contemplating the relationship you hold with the person who woke you up.
    1. Was the reason you were woken up early or before your alarm due to the actions of someone else? Did someone PURPOSELY wake you up? How dare they- are they a true friend? Can we trust this “morning” person? How inconsiderate can someone be? Not everyone relishes in being up before the sun- so leave the rest of us alone, please and thank you.
  5. All around grumpy; where is the coffee?
    1. Grouchy, lost in a daze, confused, unpleasant, muddled, unkind, cranky. All moods that describe you in the morning right after waking up and rolling out of bed. Everyone else, just please go away and let us get our life together.

Sleep IS important, especially for those of us that prefer to make it a priority and enjoy the occasional late morning- so don’t mess with that! Yes, we understand that you cannot always sleep in, which is why we become so upset when woken too early. Don’t call us dramatic or lazy- often we are the farthest people from lazy, which is why we need that dedicated time to catch some Zzz’s. It is the one time we can be relaxed and comfortable. So, don’t make the mistake of disturbing our sleep pattern, not everyone actually ENJOYS having to wake up super early. every day. A word of advice from my fellow sleep lovers: if awoken unwillingly, do us both a favor and just avoid the situation completely!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
