It’s like a love-hate relationship: we love our hair because we can do a lot with it and we hate it when it decides to go for the “I stuck my finger in an electric socket” look. Having a lot of hair can be a blessing and a curse at the same time. It’s like a love-hate relationship: we love our hair because we can do a lot with it and we hate it when it decides to go for the “I stuck my finger in an electric socket” look. Listed below are 5 common struggles faced by us thick-haired girls.

1. Getting a headache after wearing a high ponytail or bun.

If a thick-haired girl like myself wears her hair in a high ponytail or bun for a long period of time, she will get a massive headache after a while because the hair is so heavy. Please excuse me while I take some Ibuprofen.

2. Broken Hair Ties

“Your hair is just too heavy. I give up.” –every hair tie that encounters a thick-haired girl

3. Running out of conditioner and having a practically full bottle of shampoo

I might as well get a normal-sized bottle

of shampoo and a family-sized bottle of conditioner.

4. "You have so much hair."

Famous last words. Everyone has said these

five famous words to us: hairstylists, moms, dads, aunts, uncles, you name it.

5. So many knots

It feels like it takes an eternity trying to keep those pesky knots at bay.

Well, there you have it: five common struggles that thick-haired girls understand. Even though having thick hair has some downsides to it, I will always love my thick hair no matter what.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday.
