As I get older, and am transitioning into my new adult life, I've realized there are some things I definitely don't thank you enough for dad.
Making sure I know how I deserve to be treated. Ever since I was little you've treated me like a princess. You've made sure I always know my worth and to never be treated less than. I wish the future men in my life luck because you have set the standards high and I will not settle for less.
How hard you work: People used spoiled now a days as such an ugly word. I don't think it has to be though. I can say with certainty that I am spoiled and am so very grateful to be. Ever since I was born you have worked harder then anyone I've ever met to give our family a life you thought we deserved. I see how exhausted you are after working 40 hours straight. I know it may seem like I take it for granted but I can not even express how privileged and thankful I am for all you do. Because of you I have everything I need and more. You're like a superhero to me.
Showing me how to work on cars: This may sound silly but thank you for making sure I'm not totally helpless when it comes to cars. You did teach me how to drive but that's not what I'm referring to. Thank you for not just doing whatever my car needed to be fixed. When I needed an oil change, I was right under the car with you, learning how to do it myself. When my tires needed air you showed me how to test the pressure and fill them up on my own. I can't tell you how comforting it is that if something went wrong and I was alone I am capable of figuring it out and I have you to thank for that.
Not letting me do whatever I want: Trust me dad, I know it would have been easier for you to just tell me yes to everything I ever wanted to do. I mean you'd be the coolest dad ever, right? I mean we'd be best friends and I'd never be mad at you! Well thank for not doing that. Thank you for telling me no when I wanted to walk to my friends house at 11:00 at night, thank you for not letting me get a way with being disrespectful and thank you for not being my friend but being my dad. I know it wasn't easy for you to tell me no and yell at me but thank you for doing it. You kept me safe and you kept me grounded.
Loving me unconditionally: As my father you've been there for my highest points in life. However that also means you've been there for my lowest. I wish I could say I was the perfect child but I'd be lying if I did. I know you must have wanted to strangle me every time my fiery attitude came out at you. There were many times I didn't give you the love and respect you deserved so thank you for loving me regardless. I know I'm not the easiest person to handle, I'm stubborn and hardheaded which lead to many fights between us, but no matter how much we argued, I never questioned how much you loved and cared about me.
You will always be the most important man in my life and I am who I am today because of you. I am so proud to be your daughter.
