Spring has sprung! It’s time to go outside and soak up that long awaited vitamin D. Although spring’s weather is gorgeous, many see it as a preview of summer. A lot of times people use spring to plan their summer adventures, instead of living in the moment. Here are five tasks that will help you to make the most of your spring.
1. Clean.
To Get Started: My favorite cleaning products are Clorox wipes. These things are all-in-one. I use them to wipe down all surfaces, except for glass because I can't deal with the streak. They leave rooms smelling really clean and fresh.
The concept of spring cleaning may seem cliché, but it's absolutely necessary. Simple tasks like rearranging your furniture, dusting away whatever is under your bed and cleaning out your closet promote satisfaction and productiveness.
2. Update your wardrobe.
To Get Started: Look into buying a pair of Zeal sunglasses. They can be pretty pricey, but I bought a pair and I have zero regrets. The sunglasses come in many styles, which are really fashionable and durable. Aside from making cool products, Zeal uses plant-based materials and gives back to communities in need.
After cleaning out your closet, you should have lots of room for new clothes. Treat yourself and go shopping! Whether it be a cheap pair of sunglasses or a few new “springy” outfits, buy clothes and accessories that make you feel attractive. This will give you a confidence boost and help you to really embrace the amazing spring weather.
3. Take care of yourself.
To Get Started: Rose salve is one of my favorite products. Not only does it alleviate chapped lips, but it also heals cuticles and dry skin. Each little tub of rose slave, which costs a few dollars, lasts me a few months. You can buy it at Bath & Body Works.
With spring’s beautiful blooms, come intense allergies. If you suffer from seasonal allergies, like myself, then you know that allergy meds are super important. Make sure to take those antihistamines because if you don’t there will be some annoying consequences, like itchy eyes and a runny nose. Other issues, such as chapped lips, reveal themselves in the spring. Always carry around some chapstick. Chapped lips can be pretty painful.
4. Create a new playlist.
To Get Started: Listen to "Coming Over" by Dillion Francis. This song is really fun and upbeat, but doesn't really feel like a summer jam. It's perfect for spring.
Make a go-to playlist for leisurely walks or outdoor lounging. The music you listen to affects your mood so bright happy music will enhance spring’s levity. It will highlight the best things that spring has to offer: the sun, new life and the anticipation of summer. You can use many different platforms like iTunes and Pandora or my favorite music app Spotify.
5. Appreciate the harvest.
To Get Started: Buy flowers from a farmers market, or just pick some off of the newly bloomed plants to make a bouquet. My favorite flowers are lilacs; they're pretty and smell amazing.
Spring is a great time for gardeners and farmers. After winter’s harsh weather, spring reopens the doors of planting and harvesting. If you’re interested in growing some flowers or vegetables, start your own garden this spring. If you don’t have the space outside, use flower pots and put them on a window sill. And if you don’t want to get your hands dirty, then support others who do. Go to your local farmer’s market and buy some freshly-picked produce, which you can use to cook a farm-fresh meal.
